We spent one week in the apt...really central, close to the public transport, bar & supermarket. As soon as we arrived Gary and his family were there to welcome with wine and precious advice and maps. Everything is fully furnished and extra clean & tidy.Apt spacious and bright.Wi fi & computer provided.Only negative aspect the washing machine we tried to use..it left our clothes stained with washing powder nevertheless we started the program to rinse several times...also doesn't spin at all.Don't use it.All the rest it's lovely though

Firstapartments gets a First Class!… : in depth review and tips below:

Firstapartments Inn City Center, Apartment 1, Doorbell 20 (Muller), Erzsebet Korut 4, Budapest 1071, Hungary

I visited this apartment hotel for three nights while interrailing in September 2013.

Our original package (was for a double room and bathroom apartment). No Tourist tax exists in Budapest at this moment in time of writing.

The apartments is located adjacent to Blaha Lujza Square metro station (one stop from Budapest Keleti Rail Station) and is within short distance from the vibrant parts of Pest (Buda being across the river Danube). Or from the main train station of Budapest Keleti, the walk to the apartment was approximately 15 -20 minutes along one main road, followed by a brief right turn.

The Apartments provide a good base to visit all the surrounding tourist attractions and night life. As soon as we arrived, Elizabeth?, provided a tourist map and details on where to catch public transport to reach certain tourist destinations (such as Hero's square, Buda castle, Fisherman's Village, the old town etc). She was very helpful and all is guidance on reaching the attractions were correct. We were also recommended some restaurants which were nice and not extortionate at all (see other reviews).

Please note that I think FirstApartments has other apartments in the same block as well as elsewhere in Budapest. This review is particularly of the apartment near Budapest Keleti.

The apartment was up a couple of flights of stairs. There was no lift available. The address of the apartment also means Building Number 4, Apartment 20. Not the other way round as was what we originally thought. The apartment is very secure as long as you follow the rules set, to ensure that several doors of entry are locked enroute to the apartment at all times.

Upon arrival to check in, Elizabeth? was on hand to welcome us in to his apartments. She was lively and showed us around the apartment. As soon as you are let into the apartments, the vast spaciousness of the apartment can only be seen and appreciated. The amount of floor space was the largest we've ever come across. She provided tourist maps, guides and info as well as advice on catching public transport and their costs.

The apartment had: a double bed; tv; lights; wardrobe; sofa; safe; bedside tables, fridge, freezer, dining table and chairs and a separating bathroom which had a sink (with complimentary toiletries); bath/shower head; computer with desk and chair; toilet; washing machine (and washing agents); towels; ironing board; iron; clothes horse; and a hair dryer. See photos for an idea of the room. We had a view but no balcony. Complimentary wine was also made available for us.

The room was very spacious and tall and the decor matching the hotel's theme.

There was no breakfast available but the apartment also had a kitchen, which comprised of a full set of pots and pans, an oven, spices, fridge/freezer (asmentioned before), complimentary tea and coffee, cutlery, kettle, toaster, oven, microwave.

The bed was very comfortable and we had a good sleep. The whole apartment was clean.

The plus side for this apartment was the washing machine and clothes hanger. Budapest was in the middle of our itinerary during our interrail trip and we were due a pit stop somewhere to wash our clothes. I have no qualms with the washing machine here - it works! I highly recommend this place for other interrailers to consider to use.

There are numerous supermarkets nearby. They include CBA which is across the road and Spars north on the same road or west past the metro stop. Kebab shops, bakeries and Lado's restaurant/cafe are nearby as well. Lado's was recommended to us and we found it okay. Go there for the daily jazz music in the evenings (refer to other review).

There was free Internet available throughout. It was a good connection with no problems at all.

The price for this hotel is fairly reasonable (less than the price to a Premier Inn in the UK - cost us £38 ish per night at the time. Definitely value for money for the quality, space and comfort of a room in Budapest - but it wasn't just a room, it was a room that was an apartment - truly a home away from home.

Overall, the staff were fantastic in their service, guidance, advice and tips. The room was very comfortable and the location was not arduous at all - it was within travelling distance from everywhere else. If I had to come back to Budapest, I would come definitely back to this apartment for sure…

The apartment we stayed in was well equipped and very clean. It was through a door on the main street opposite the New York Cafe and on the main tram route. It was very quiet and had air conditioning and internet (very slow but OK for checking your mails) We were collected from the airport at a cost of 15 euros and as we arrived late evening this was great. Easy access all sites and amenities - we walked a lot and took the 'hop on' bus which was about 15 pounds for 2 days unlimited travel including a boat tour and evening coach tour which was great. The Danube at night is beautiful with Parliament lit up and the river bridges and monuments.

Hosts were so accommodating; gave us a great introduction to the city and provided a solution to us returning our key when we unexpectedly had to leave early. The apartment was larger than I had been expecting and very clean and tidy. Everything you need is within easy walking distance or jump on the metro - just 1 minute walk away! The only minor downsides were the stairs and all the locks and keys.

Overall, hugely recommended!!

Three of us stayed quite comfortably in this clean, small apartment. It is centrally located and within walking distance of everything. Our host met us at the airport and thoroughly explained how to find everything we needed. It was our first experience renting something of this nature and something I would recommend to anyone.

We stayed here for 3 nights. The location is well worth it! Across the street from The New York cafe...and probably less than a full meal at the cafe! It is located just steps away from the Metro...2 stops from the start of the Hop off/ Hop on Bus terminus.
Word of warning: it is 3 flights up with NO elevator! Bring air-freshener...the only downside, it did have a funky smell.
