Reviewed 7 February 2014 via mobile

Just got back from a lovely week staying at the Palazzo Zichy. There are probably more luxurious hotels in Budapest but I'ld challenge you to find a better one for the money. Made a very comfortable base for exploring the wonderful city of Budapest. The breakfast buffet made a good start to the day and the staff were always helpful and friendly. The only slight negative was the room service, food is from a local restaurant it was ok but not great and slightly cold. Drink making facilities in the room would also have been nice as most days we got back from sight seeing after the free hot drinks service had ended. Those are minor points however as all in all a very good stay. No hotel restaurant but can recommend the Russian restaurant opposite the hotel, Matrjoska.

Out of the central area but in easy walking distance of all the main attractions and tube stations. Can't fault the hotel as evidenced by all the positive reviews below. Delicious breakfasts and the complementary drinks in the afternoon were a nice touch.

As we were flying in quite late at night I emailed ahead to arrange a transfer from the airport. It was no problem at all and we could add the fare (8500hf) to the hotel bill.
Room was lovely, great decor and spotless. Facilities included, safe, fridge, tv and toiletries. Personally, we found the beds quite hard but I cant fault the clean, pressed sheets on a very large bed!
Breakfast was faultless, every food/drink has been considered.
We didnt use the wellness centre but guests have free usage of the sauna and gym.
Staff were very informative and efficient.
Location was good, metro station a few blocks away. Close to the Great Market Hall and liberty bridge.
Would definitely recommend to others and return to if visiting Budapest again.

Four of us visted this hotel in January 2014 and we were all very happy with our choice of hotel. The staff were very helpful and called taxis for us and printed off bus timetables too. The rooms were spacious, we had room 201 and it had a small walk in wardrobe which was sufficient for our stay. The bathroom had glass doors with a sort of transfer on them so they were not see through; saying that you could hear everything in the bedroom- so make sure you are happy with that!
Our bedroom was often not cleaned until late afternoon, so if you wished to come home for an afternoon nap your room may not be ready.
The breakfast was very good with hot and cold foods available with teas, coffees and fruit juice. The only issue is the breakfast room is not large enough and the tables are too close together hence people are always squeezing past your table and it makes breakfast less than relaxing.
The tram stop is just a couple of minutes walk, and the metro at kalvin ter is about 5-10 minutes walk. Taxis were reasonable, with trips in the city costing about £3 - £5.
There are plenty of places to eat in the vicinity and a couple of small supermarket styleshops.
We would definately return...

A beautiful hotel in a central location of Budapest with lovely rooms, breakfast area and lounge/reception.

The room was immaculate and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was big and very clean. Free wifi was available in all areas of the hotel and was easy to connect to.

Breakfast was good with a selection of cooked items, breads, a large selection of fruits, cheeses, meats and pastries. Free tea, coffee and water was available in the lounge area until 5pm.

The staff were very helpful and professional throughout our stay.

The hotel is hidden down a side street but there was a few bars and restaurants close by and it was not far to walk to the Great Market hall and the Liberty Bridge area.

Would highly recommend and would certain go again.

The Palazzo Zichy is a truly welcoming modern venue. From the outside the building isn't much to look at, but inside they have beautifully renovated the old palace. The rooms were very well appointed and a good size. The free drinks and snacks in the lounge from 9am-5pm is a fantastic idea and means you can take a bottle of water with you when you go out or relax with a cup of tea when you get back in.
The breakfast buffet is wide and very well stocked with hot and cold items - much better than many that have charged £15 a head for.
The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful with excellent English. Access to the centre of town is pretty easy from the Metro station one block away (reception can sell you tickets).
About the only bit that could do with improving is the toiletries which are in tiny bottles with such small necks you struggle to get anything out!

My husband and I stayed here for two nights and couldn't have been happier. We were warmly welcomed at reception and check in was handled very smoothly and efficiently. We were given walking directions to a restaurant serving traditional food which turned out to be great - a step back in time to the elegance of the late 1800s - a pianist played quietly in the corner as we enjoyed some very tasty Hungarian treats. The room in the hotel was lovely - big bed, comfy pillows and excellent bathroom with soft, white towels - and the all-important hair dryer. Breakfast was buffet style and included both hot and cold food, fruit, cereals and excellent coffee. Coffee is free throughout the day in the hotel lounge. There are a number of great bars very nearby - we particularly liked the Zappa Bar - and everything we wanted to see (apart from the Fine Art Museum - take the yellow metro line) was within walking distance. We strolled over bridges, climbed Gellert Hill to the monument (fantastic view) and then ambled over to the castle and its museums. This is a fantastic hotel, well situated and very comfortable. We will definitely return to the Palazzo Zichy if/when we return to Budapest. One other tip - book a private taxi from the airport through ResortHoppa - just over 30 pounds return for 2 people to be dropped/picked up right at the hotel.
