“Lovely hotel”
Reviewed 27 August 2014

We stayed at this hotel in early August. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Our room was quiet, located on the fifth floor. The room was of a fair size, clean and modern. The bathroom was kept clean and had a great shower.

Breakfast was good with a lot of choice.

The hotel was a 10 minute walk from the metro - we bought a 3 day pass which we thought was very good value.

Room Tip: We had a 5th floor room overlooking the atrium. No view but a very quiet room which is what we wante...

Housed in an old building the inside of the Hotel is far from old. The reception area is very modern. The receptionist was very helpful and every recommendation the staff made for restaurants or sightseeing trips was first Class. Booking taxis to and from the airport with the hotel gives you a fixed price ride. Breakfast is extensive with plenty of choice of continental and cooked options avialable. Attentive and helpful staff waited tables. Free soft drinks, tea & coffee were available in an area just off reception area available up until late afternoon. Rooms clean, sleek and modern. The rooms we had looked into the internal attrium area and not out onto the street, one room had a bath and the other had a wet room- if you have a preference ask when booking. The Hotel also booked a Danube Evening Dinner Cruise for us. The Hotel is not on a busy street and within easy walking distance of several attractions and has good transport links, local Metro, bus and tram stops are nearby.

This hotel is one of the best we have been to on a city break. The staff were so helpful and pleasant in all areas. We could not believe the breakfast it was superb it Included smoked salmon and even a glass of bubbly if you wanted one, everything was freshly cooked and you could eat as much as you liked. The hotel was situated in a great position there were lots of nice cafes and bars very close by.Well worth the visit and very reasonably priced.

This is the second time we have stayed in this hotel, which is, for us is just perfect. The hotel is very contemporary, the staff are great and very helpful and 10 minute walk to the centre of town. Tram (no.4) is 2 minutes away and the metro 5 minutes walk (m3). This IS a lovely hotel and i would totally recommend it.

Room Tip: i would pick a room on a lower floor as better water pressure (shower) and you can use the stairs in...

Pros:
1) Great staff. We received excellent recommendations for the baths, river cruise, and dinner restaurant. Very professional
2) Great breakfast.
3) Comfortable room and pretty quiet for being on the first floor. The bathroom was also fun with those rain showers.
4) Modern hotel atmosphere.

Cons:
1) Not as city center as I would have liked. But the metro is only about two blocks away which is another about 3 stops to city center.

The hotel is nicely located in a restaurant/bar neighborhood without being a party zone. In fact its located in a central residential area with a bistrot and pub right across and further restaurants a 2 mins walk towards Kalvin square/Vaci Street - a very nice, relaxed and welcoming area. We stayed 2 nights in a modern furnished standard double room that was just big enough. The bathroom even quite spacious. Room & bath (with bd) always clean with a comfortable not too soft mattress and sufficient storage for our 3 day stay with wardrobe for a classic wedding party... our window to patio back so nights were quiet. Free & fast wifi working well in all areas. Reception area and atrium very spacious and a perfect mix of the old building structure with modern interior. Breakfast: a good variety of fresh products incl all styles of eggs and fruits & vegs, sometimes the restaurant was a bit crowded as space is limited. Reception and all service personnell exceptionally attentive and friendly. We had some cleaning/ironing requests which were handled very short notice very personally and professionally. We liked our stay in the Palazzo Zichy a lot and it at least matched our expectations from the reviews... We certainly will come again.

We read before our trip to Budapest comments about this hotel on Trip Advisor and I must say that all the positive things I read was true:

- the very nice, polite and accommodating staff: for example we arrived to the hotel at 12am and the check in is only from 2pm. Despite of this fact the young man at the front desk office gave us a very good room (the room 108) with a great view (a little garden and a beautiful church).

- the room was perfectly cleaned up

- the hotel decoration is tasteful, stylish (maybe a bit cold)

- the breakfast was perfect - a large choice of everything, a friendly and helpful staff

- the price is MORE than fair

Room Tip: The room 108 is very agreeable and you can enjoy a peaceful view :-)
