“Excellent hotel - can see why it is held in such high regard”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 March 2010

The Palazzo Zichy really is a gem of a hotel. We booked through Hotels.com at £60 a night after reading up on a few hotels in Budapest and couldn't believe our luck when we arrived.
Our pickup from the airport was waiting for us and it was about a 30 min drive to the hotel, where despite being a bit early a room was available for us on the 5th floor.
We were opposite the lift but didn't get disturbed by any noise in the corridor throughout our stay. The room was large, with a comfy double bed and a luxury bathroom layout. Free WiFi in the rooms & free tea & coffee in reception during the day were added bonuses. The breakfast buffet was exceptional, with the dining area being just about big enough for everyone to get a table!
The location isn't totally central, but nothing is too far away in Budapest. A 5 minute walk takes you to the national museum, a further five and you're at the central market. We also found the Opera was a 20 minute walk, where you can always stop in at the Szimpla wreck bar on the way (or Tesco Expressz!).
All in all an excellent hotel that added to a wonderful stay in Budapest.

Chose this hotel through trip advisor and it definately lived up to our expectations and more! Really clean, cosy hotel and the staff are fantastic especially Peter on reception. On night one for example after an early start catching our flight from the UK and getting caught in the rain, my boyfriend and I didn't really fancy walking around trying to look for a restaurant to have dinner, and as room service only had salads or sandwiches and I fancied something hot, Peter informed me that he could order me a take away to be delivered to the hotel. Thought it was really kind of them to arrange this and translate the menu so pizza delivery it was!

They also arranged us to change rooms after our first night to a room with a bath instead of just shower and it was no hassle for them at all.

Arranged taxi to hotel from airport in advance and it was hassle free and only about £20, would reccommend it instead of having to deal with buses/trains.

Breakfast was really look and again the staff in the mornings were very kind, polite and efficient. Lots of variety of cereals, bread rolls, fruits, fry-up or continential with different cheeses, meats, yogurts, jams, juices, and hot drinks.

Would reccommend you visit restaurant Borsso Bistro for dinner whilst in Budapest and restaurant Gundel for Sunday Brunch is a must!

It's all been pretty much said before; this is a top quality hotel. I'm unable to come up with anything even mildly negative. In particular, the location is really good as it's just a couple of metro stops away from the more expensive restaurants and watering holes right in the centre. Not that Budapest is an expensive city to begin with.

The area also feels nice, safe and quiet and there are some good restaurants within walking distance. The Frank Zappa bar has been mentioned by others and is worth checking out as is the Nothing but the Blues Bar just down the road for the Hungarian dark beer on tap (and at a very sensible price).

This is one of the nicest hotels you could wish to stay in. From the moment you arrive you are made welcome by the very proficient front of house staff. Every where is spotlessly clean and imaculate with out being pretentious. It is close to many good bars restaurants in fact one The Kamara Klub is 50 meters from the main entrance a very relaxing bar/restaurant. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff of the Zichy who go out of thier way to make your stay a very enjoyable expierience.

The hotel is gorgoeus! The staff couldn't be more friendly or helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are exactly as they look on the website and so clean! The shower is amazing. All together the best hotel I have been to in a while. I really enjoyed my stay and would recommend it to everyone I know. Thank you Palazzo Zichy!

While not as impressed by Budapest generally as I thought I would be, I can't say the same about the Palazzo Zichy. For the unbelievably low price they offered at the time, the hotel was superb.

Located in a historic mansion, it is in a quiet and atmospheric neighbourhood yet not far from the main shopping area around Vaci utca. The welcome was warm, all the staff spoke good English, and the breakfast buffet was very filling. The public areas and rooms were spotless and stylish. I slept incredibly soundly every night.

The only minor downside was that the noise of other guests walking on the floors in other rooms is sometimes a little disturbing, but that is a minor issue in what is really a top-class hotel at an affordable price.

We have just returned from 3 nights in Budapest staying at the Hotel Palazzo Zichy. It is superb! The rooms were immaculate, the bed huge and comfy and the buffet breakfast meant that we didn't feel like eating again until late afternoon. The location meant that it was a short walk (15mins) to Liberty Bridge but quiet at night.
The staff spoke perfect English and couldn't be more helpful. I would recommend this hotel!
