“Beautiful hotel, wonderful service in Budapest”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 October 2010

The staff at this beautiful, spotless hotel in Budapest was exceedingly helpful in planning our stay, making restaurant suggestions and reservations, arranging transportation back to the airport. The service was excellent. They also provide free bottled water, small snacks and apples during the day. The buffet breakfast was superb, healthy, varied and delicious. I would highly recommend this hotel.

In my many travels to Europe I have never experienced such great customer service as at the Hotel Palazzo Zichy. Patrick, at the front desk, was awesome. He helped us with our daily ventures, including getting us tickets for the tram and bus. He went out of his way to help us make sure each day was special in Budapest and that we were happy. In addition to Patrick everyone we met at the hotel was charming, happy and helpful. Kudos to this hotel who hires and trains their staff. Food at the hotel was also excellent. I normally don't eat breakfast but I loved the food they had for breakfast each morning. We were so full we didn't stop our day to eat lunch, went right to a late dinner. Coffee and water in the lobby all day was an added plus. Hotel was quiet, charming and friendly. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning on visiting Budapest.

What can we say. BRILL,BRILL & again BRILL.
We have stayed in a few great hotels over the years, see our profile, but this Hotel is way high up on the BEST WE HAVE STAYED IN. From the intitial welcome from the front desk staff, to the genuine thank you for staying & see you again comments as we left the hotel after 5 days was warm & genuine.
All the staff are great. Always helpful and talkative. They will give you great info regarding travel around the city & where to eat.
As for eating, breakfast is superb. The food was always piping hot & the buffet constantly replenished. The room was ideal for our needs. Some have commented about the small size of the rooms, but really what do you want Ha! Ha! If its a huge room then get a suite. If you are a tourist then you are out most of the day. All you want is a comfy, clean bed & this hotel has both & the room is Chic & modern with a great bothroom thrown in.
The bar is supberb with again great staff & lovely cocktails at night. The free tea & coffee in the afternoon is a great idea & free internet access is a great thing to have. We would come in at 16:00 & Anne had a tea & read the papers where I had a coffee & hit the net for 30 minutes.
As for eating out, we never ventured to the tourist restuarants. We ate in a 1/2 kilometre area around the hotel. The wee local restuarants down from the church (across the road)served brill Hungarian meals & at a fraction of the price we are used to in Scotland. The most we paid for for beers, 2 x bottles of wine, 2 courses & coffee was £43 & that was with a tip.
We cannot speak highly enough of the hotel, the staff & the warm welcome we had from everyone in Hungary. SEE YUO AGAIN FOR SURE :)
IF you want a Chic modern hotel the book up now.
P.S. Its so quiet as well.

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel in late September. We had a large and comfortable room with very good bathroom facilities. My only complaint is that the bed was rather to firm for our tastes but this is a minor niggle. The reception staff were very helpful and gave good advice on restaurants and sights. The breakfast is good and the free coffee and tea facilities + free internet access were all good added extras. Would definitely stay again and would recommend to friends and family

An excellent hotel with a perfect welcome, extraordinary rooms and delicious breakfast with a large choice of food. Nothing was a problem, from laundry, to car parking to tourist destinations. The front desk staff consistently recognised us and we were always greeted with a smile and a very friendly face. The hotel is very modern but complements the history of the site and the history of the wondrous city of Budapest. We would with out hesitaion recommend Hotel Palazza Zichy to all our friends and family and will definitely return on our next trip to Budapest. Thank you!

We arrived in Budapest at the Keleti train station which is not the best first impression so walking into the lobby of the Palazzo Zichy was a very reassuring & welcome sight. The hotel is very nicely done. The rooms were clean & modern with nice high ceilings. We had breakfast in bed both mornings and we certainly had no complaints about our room.

However, the staff was less knowledgeable about the area than we expected. They didn't have many specific recommendations for restaurants, things to see, etc. and seemed to be at a loss often when we asked for advice. Also, while they had breakfast, they didn't appear to offer dinner or even snacks in the lounge in the evening which after a long train ride from Prague would have been great. We opted for dinner at Don Leone down the street, which was actually quite tasty. If you stay at this hotel, you'll want to be comfortable with walking and/or taking the metro/tram. It is about a 5 walk to the Kalvin Ter metro/tram & about a 15 minute walk to Vaci Utca.

All things considered, this was a good hotel for the price.
