Whose parents told them not to draw on the walls? Mine did - so I loved this place!! The art work captures the culture of the hostel.

Staff are very friendly - showing you (over a glass of complementary wine or two) in detail on a map when you arrive places to see, eat, visit. None disappointed. They also helped us with bookings. One staff member also cooked us a traditional meal - garlic, cheese pasta with salad - for 20 guests! Bring some wine to share with her - she likes red ;)

The room was quirky and very comfortable. We had a shared bathroom which no one else actually used. Hostel is in a very central location - right near trams, metro and in walking distance of many sights.

We didn't want to leave!

Room Tip: If you are after the cheaper private double room with a shared bathroom, but want a bathroom pretty much to yourself - ask for the one closest to the entrance gate.

I stayed here over Easter and enjoyed my time here. The hostel is well located opposite the national museum and metro station, there are no signs outside, so look out for the number of the building 37 instead and there is a discrete intercom. Security is good with several access controlled gates, even though there is no real problems in the area. The staff were excellent and very friendly.

The rooms are good and the facilities clean. The hostel has an excellent and unique art style which adds to its uniqueness.

The rooms in this hostel are very nice decorated with a lot of vintage furniture and art, cosy and unique. The common area is a very pleasant place to relax and enjoy a coffee. Very friendly and helpful staff. The location is excellent, two subway stations are nearby. But you can easily walk to sights in Budapest, but also to the restaurants and bars.

Lovely staff, beautiful building, very high standard rooms. We had a room with our own fridge and microwave so could be self contained if we had chosen to.
The staff were excellent, so friendly and helpful and cooked the whole hostel dinner on one night.

It's probably not the place for a lone traveller or someone looking to meet everyone in the hostel as residents don't naturally spend a lot of time in the communal room. That said we made some great friends there.

The front facing rooms are a little noisy because base road is quite busy but if you are used to City living it's not at all a problem.

Really good location- everywhere is walkable and very easy to find from the airport.

The Lavender circus is an adorable little boutique hostel in Budapest, very close to most sights. It has a very friendly atmosphere and great decor, and is definitely the place you should stay if you're traveling Budapest on a budget. All the recommendations given were excellent. Just keep in mind that the building has no elevator and it's a long way up.
