I was lucky enough to recieve a deal e-mailed to me for a 2 night stay at the Ramada aqua park resort for £99. inc flights. Obviously at this price I did not go with any great expectations of the hotel. But what a fabulous surprise the hotel is modern and very well equiped a fabulous room with comfy beds and a great veiw of the hills. The bathroom had a great walk in shower and everything was clean and well maintained. The reception staff were very helpful too.
We were on a room only basis but we did use the lobby cafe for breakfast one morning and had a lovely breakfast, I opted for the crosaint and actually recieved a plate with 2 croisants some preserve and butter a some fruit. I did not feel that it was expensive working out at about £4.00 with a hot chocholate.
Yes the hotel is a good 20mins car journey from the city but there is the hop on hop off shuttle bus which comes and goes on a regular enough basis and this is free. There is also a local bus which is very inexpensive and offers a more regular service.
We used the free shuttle to go into Hero's square and because we wanted to fit every thing in to our 2 days we stayed out all day and late into the evening so we opted to take a taxi back to the hotel. I had read all sorts of negative reports about getting a taxi in Budapest but we found one at the rank and asked for a price but was told it was on a meter the driver did give us a rough idea of the price and he was very close to the actual meter rate. It worked out at about £18 which again we felt was very resonable especially late at night.
We didn't have enough time to make use of the Aqua Park but it you can see into it from the hotel and it does look like a fabulous place.
I would most definatley stay at this hotel again and have and will recommend it to people.
Budapest is a fabulous city we used the blue hop onhop off buses with a 2 day pass costing £32 which includes a boat trip too. but we found it a fabulous city to walk round too. one thing to be aware of is that a lot of the public buildings,Museums and attractions are closed on a Monday so if you are going for a long weekend fit these in before hand.
I will review seperatly but do not miss the House of terror, the shoes on the Danube and the "Water Ride " Bus complete madness that made us laugh so so much a real experience.
