“Beautiful hotel, comfortable rooms, helpful staff & good breakfast, what more do U need 4 an enjoyable weekend away ?”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 October 2011

From the minute we saw the magnificent doorway we knew we would enjoy our stay & the bedrooms confirmed this, for once they actually looked like the pictures on the internet!! I emailed before our visit to request 3 non smoking rooms, I got a quick response to say that reception would try their best to accommodate us on our arrival, as they indeed did. We found all the concierge staff and the porters very helpful & friendly. The rooms looked good, the beds were confortable & the bathroom (we had shower over bath) had good powerful showers. The breakfast had something for everyone from porridge to pastries via eggs & bacon, everything we tried was good and the dishes were replenished quickly. There was a nice outside seating area for our 3 fag ash Lils & the upstairs bar & café perfect for relaxing after a hard days sightseeing & before going out for dinner, as well as the free wi-fi, there was also a PC & printer available in a corner for guests use. We didn’t use the wellness centre so can’t comment on that. Although not incredibly central, it’s location on Dohany Utca is about a 15-20 minute stroll from the river, it was easy to get to everywhere we wanted.
If I have to nit pick the seating in the lobby area was lovely to look at but not comfortable if you planned to sit for long.

Room Tip: Our room on the inside overlooking breakfast patio was very quiet, one of our party was on the stree...

This was my second stay at the Continental Hotel Zara when on business. The hotel is simply first-class. The reception staff really give the impression that they are glad to see you and could not be more helpful. The rooms, with free wi-fi, are very comfortable with a desk to work at and wall-mounted flat-screen TV. The breakfast buffet is excellent and has a wide choice of food while the restaurant in the evening also serves excellent food. The hotel has a roof-top pool and spa which is small but adequate. The position of the hotel is great for both business in Budapest and also if you happen to be a tourist. No question that this will be where I will stay on future trips to Budapest.

This hotel is located on the Pest side, about 20-30min walk from the main train station (maybe less, once you get your bearings), and about the same distance from the main square. The hotel itself is immaculate, with great facilities, which include a rooftop pool - which is an awesome spot to be around sunset - saunas, and jacuzzi. The staff was extremely welcoming, knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Shortly after getting into our room, there was a knock on the door, and we were sent a lovely, complimentary, bottle of wine, which was a surprise, as there was no occasion. Admittedly, this hotel is not, by any means, in the hub of the action, but it forced us to walk around & check out different parts of the city, beyond the centre. If you can walk, it's easy to get to anywhere from here, including the parliament & bridges to Buda. It is just off of a main street, with numerous bus routes, as well. If that weren't enough, breakfast is included, and I can't imagine any option that was missing from the buffet. The cost for a stay was comparable to hostels in the area, which made no sense. It's not a 'party' hotel, by any means, but it was truly a high scale break from backpacking. Without doubt, I would stay here again.

Dear Rain13,

thank you for the overall high score on your stay. I read from your review title you enjoyed the style the most. Since you were "GOD" (Guest of the Day) randomly selected from the arriving guests, you were the lucky guest receiving a bottle of wine.

Thank you for recommending us and I hope your return will be in the near future.

Five of us went to Budapest for a 4 day break.

Airport was lovely and our driver was there to meet us.

On arrival at the Zara we were met outside by the hotel staff, to carry our bags into reception.

Reception staff were very welcoming and polite and spoke very good English, nothing was too much trouble, they were all very helpful.

The rooms were lovely, clean and very modern. The restaurant was superb, food lovely and very plentiful, there was something for everyone.

The bar was lovely too, not too expensive.

Room Tip: The deluxe rooms had tea & coffee making facilities.

As soon as we saw the pictures of this hotel, we couldn't wait to be there, and it didn't disappoint. As soon as we walked through the doors, we were greeted by the most friendliest hotel staff we have ever encountered. We were upgraded to a Luxury Room on arrival without asking and given brochures and leaflets for sights and restaurants around Budapest.
The room was stunningly decorated and the bathroom was amazing with two showers. We took full advantage of the free spa facilities and although the outside pool in October was a little chilly, the view at night was breathtaking, looking out onto Buda Castle illuminated in purple light.
I can't think that anyone would be displeased with this beautiful hotel and its helpful and pleasant staff. Budapest has always been somewhere I personally always wanted to go and it hasn't let me down. We only encountered very friendly people and we felt so safe. The public transport system is very good and cheap, but if you enjoy walking and the weather is favourable, this is the best way to see the city.
We also went on a river cruise, which again was just stunning. Walking the full length of Andrassy Avenue with blisters isn't recommended, but the end result of 'Heroes Square' makes it all worth while.
We only came back on Monday 10th October and we are already talking about going back and we can't wait to stay in this hotel again. Best trip ever!!

Dear Laura S,

Even a Mystery Shopper could not better describe your experiences in our hotel than you. I appreciate that you enjoyed Budapest too. I am sure both Budapest and Continental Hotel Budapest are perfect venues for city breaks.

Please, do not just dream about your return, but book it too, as the availability is limited!

Thank you for the excellent scores and best regards,

A modern, price-sensitive 'design' hotel, great for weekend trips and holiday tours - full when I visitied.

However, the room was only bed-sized - literally! - without a desk or place to work, and WiFi was a challenge (a trip back to reception to get a code, and then dropping constantly, unwilling to bring up the login screen). It detracted from what is a reasonable hotel.

The hotel seemed to be located ok. The desk staff was quite cordial and helpful. The rooms (standard) were awful. In the 2 wks. we spent in Europe these rooms were the worst. We could not put our suitcase down as there was no room to open it up.The lighting was so dim you could not read even directions on the pamphlet provided in the room. The bathroom was so small we could not turn around or enter unless the other left the room. We were on the 5th floor near the elevator.
