“Does the job!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 September 2010

It's a very nice hotel, although I think it is listed as a 4* it would probably be more appropriate and accurate to list as a 3*.

Small things like no telephone, tea or coffee or complementary water in the rooms, cleaning could be more thorough (never saw or heard a hoover in 6 days). Although it is a nice place to stay, in a year when the furnishings are suffering wear and tear it may struggle with the 3*.

It's true what is said about breakfast, its very limited, no toasters, not replenished and the only tea and coffee machine in the building takes an age and queues form. Dont pay extra for the breakfast, 20 feet away there are dozens of eateries which provide full breakfasts at very reasonable rates.

These are trivial things, and for a budget hotel (which, make no mistake this is) it has the basics: near to vaci utca, climate controlled rooms, comfortable beds, excellent shower with all the hot water you could want, and most of all very helpful friendly staff that do whatever they can and have good local knowledge which they are happy to pass on if asked.

When we looked out of our room we could see vaci utca one side and the danube on the other, its located in a gorgeous building in a gorgeous street and has gorgeous windows which you can have open and hear the magic of the street below.

It's a good budget hotel, but dont expect luxury - just a few fancy coloured cushions.

We got to Budapest by train and had no hotel reservations so we went to the Tourist Info Office at the train station to figure out what to do. We asked for some info on a hostel we had read about but the guy at the TI recommended the "Cosmo City Hotel" which is a new hotel and centrally located for a lesser price than the one we asked about. We decided to go for it and got a free shuttle to the place. They are still finishing up paint jobs and the front desk is small but the attention was great and when we got to our our room, what a great surprise. Clean, modern, excellent decor, internet, super comfortable, a/c (although we did not need it) and a view of the cobble pedestrian street with tons of stores and restaurants. We got a welcome cocktail and a 20% discount for the restaurant which we did use. Breakfast was included. Overall we loved our stay at the Cosmo and loved Budapest.

Found this hidden gem by coincidence, the hotel is very well located in Vaci Utca the number one touristic street in Budapest with tens of cool cafes, restaurants and souvenir shops, also the hotel is only 5 minutes walk to the closest underground metro station (which I recommend to stay away from its automatic ticket machines as much as possible as it's one of its habits to swallow money). However, the room was beautiful, modern, colorful, well-furnished, very clean, air-conditioned and a bit small. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ok, not bad but not the best. Would definitely stay there again if I'll return to Budapest and would recommend it to everybody. Enjoy beautiful Budapest :):)

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in May 2010 and although the hotel was clean and modern the big complaint that I have was the inadequate breakfast. The coffee/tea machine was always running out - too small for the number of guests and once the quantities of rolls/bread and yoghurts had run out they were not replenished. Choose a hotel that has positive comments on the breakfast, it does make a good start for the day !!

Thank you for taking the time to comment. I’m sorry to hear that breakfast was insufficient, as it is indeed an important part of your stay. I am happy to tell you that we now have a bigger and better coffee machine; I have also arranged to have greater stocks on hand at breakfast, and more frequent refills. It would be great to have the opportunity to make it up to you, so do please contact me directly at the hotel to review what I can do for you.
Yours sincerely,
Ágoston Török, General Manager

Brand new hotel, right in the center of old town, close to numerous restaurants, cafes, bars etc. The staff still needs some time to develop its skills. Firstly, before the stay my credit card was charged by mistake. As a compensation I got a discount. Secondly, upon arrival we got a room without a window or rather the window pane was completely non-transparent and the ceiling was lower than in the rest of the rooms (you can see it in the photo attached). After a night in this "cage" we requested the room to be changed and we got another one. The problem is that there is no information about lower standard rooms and the price is the same as for the regular ones (big bright windows, street view). Overall, the staff is very helpful and nice. We recommend the hotel but you need to be careful about the rooms.
