“Impeccable service and attention to details”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 June 2014

What a lovely way to start a trio. We had the 7 course tasting menu with a wine selected by the sommelier paired for each course. Not being familiar with the wines of the region and frankly having low expectations we were happily surprised and enjoyed every offering. Some were better than others but out of 14 wines (yes we each tried different things and different wines) not a single one was ‘bad’ and several were things we will look for when we return to the states. The young lady who was the sommelier was enthusiastic, knowledge and had a charming accent. She took her time and explained each wine as they were poured including the region, the soil and the characteristics.
The service was as good as I have experienced and the attention to the smallest details was over the top. They wear white gloves as they serve you and as you look at the photos you will see 5 types of butter served for your bread on tablet of salt. The knife work and presentation of a veggie salad was impressive. The food was wonderful top to bottom. If you want a nice evening out then go, by all means go.

We are glad for the fact that you have appreciated not just the food, and service, but were positively surprised by our wine selection.
Rita, the sommelier is a great asset to our team, and is always keen on to share her knowledge with our guests.

“Let's go for a second Michelin Star”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2014

My best meal in Budapest by far (I tried >30 restaurants already), a great choice for my birthday. We chose the shortest menu of 4 courses - you don't have to, you can take less a la carte but it would be a shame - and with all the small appetizers offered before, it became a long menu. We took two regular menus and one from the seasonal choice. A great culinary experience that even our 15 year-old son enjoyed. The service was impeccable, even serving water is an art, with a controlled flow.

Whatever you choose and it describes on the menu, it will never be what you think, the cuisine is innovative, ingredients taste different and sometimes are cooked in 3 different ways in the same dish. Before your palate, your eyes will have a feast, all is so pretty. The apple crumble features a crumble inside a transparent apple made of caramel - how was this even possible!

I highly recommend it to all my gourmet friends or if you have a special occasion to celebrate. And I don't think that offering the menu with a ribbon around it at the end of the meal is a stupid idea, I think it is smart because otherwise it's hard to remember what you ate since all is so good (we also tasted each others plates, so 3 x 4 + appetizers ...).

Did not give final star because found the young, efficient staff overtrained to ingratiate themselves as to their desire to please. This was pleasant on arrival but became extremely irritating over course of meal. They do not need to do it.The final laugh was the proprietors presentation to you of their menu with a ribbon round it!Be prepared even if you drink modestly and slowly(!) you will spend at least £125 a head a top price for Budapest

“A True Culinary Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 June 2014

There is no surprise that this place has earned a Michelin Star. It is very much deserved. The food was absolutely amazing. Honestly, words can't do it justice. The flavors, textures, and cooking methods used were phenomenal. The "treat" at the beginning of the meal was fantastic and the tomato macaron was a highlight for me. And then there was the service. All of the staff were attentive and helpful. They clearly knew what they were doing.
All I can say is if you have the opportunity to dine here do not pass it up. You will be amazed by the entire experience.

“Fabulous food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2014

This restaurant is quite heavily publicised for being the first Michellin stared restaurant in Budapest and that unfortunately from experience doesn't always mean that such places live up to their hype! Fortunately this one did! Three of us dined & we each had four courses. You could choose principally from anything on the menu which made it much better than the typical tasting menu which can be difficult if you are dining with people who have dislikes.

Each of us had something different and they were all great. Egg yolk ravioli and roast pigeon were the stand out dishes for me and the strawberry dessert was to die for.

We paired each course with some great Hungarian wines (which proved to be a great surprise) and we each had both an aperitif and digestive and out bill including service was around €150 each which means it was marginally cheaper than London but with lacking in quality at all!

All staff were very attentive and knowledge, decor is great, general ambience is relaxed fine dining but if I had one small criticism, for a Saturday night it did lack the "buzz" I might expect.

Overall though would definitely go back if I return to Budapest

Dear JoanneDavies,

We are happy to learn from your review that we were up to your expectations.
Glad that you have enjoyed both the food and the service. On the other hand we do our best to create a lively atmosphere here every night, despite the fact that the restaurant is a small and intimate fine dining institutement. Hope to prove it right during your next visit.
