We fell in love with this guest house, so unique, a far cry away from the standard Holiday Inns and Novatel's ! We arrived late so there was no one in receptions ( manned between 8am and 8pm), we were left instructions on how to operate the keypad to access the main part of the hotel, however, we got confused with it but there was someone at the other end of a buzzer somewhere to help us.

We had Agi room and Gasper Gaff, both of which were amazing rooms, Agi room was on the 2nd floor and the stairs can be a bit of a challenge but the room was lovely and the lounge area and very well stocked honesty bar are well worth popping up to visit. Some interesting bits and pieces, art work and scrap books up there.

My mum stayed in the Gasper Gaff which had access to a charming courtyard where we had breakfast and dinner some days. This was a room with a kitchenette which we had had only ever intended to cook our breakfast in but it was so well equipped and spotlessly clean we decided to do dinner there for ourselves on two evenings and enjoy the courtyard. We shopped at the central market for all our bits.

We had room service every day in both where the bins were emptied and the beds made nicely which we weren't expecting, the sheets were changed and towels changed after two days which wasn't necessary but nice to have done

this guest house is also occupied by residents so they are very conscious of the need to respect the other people living there in terms of peace and quite, there are polite notices dotted around but how much the building echo's and to be kind to the other guests that might not want to be woken up. We didn't hear a soul in the evenings and were never woken by road noise or other guests. You are in fact in a cobbles back street so street noise doesn't seem to be an issue full stop

I would definitely recommend this hotel as something out of the ordinary, very well priced, good location to everything you need to get to, two very helpful girls who work on the reception who are happy to arrange taxi's and whatever else you need

Room Tip: We had two rooms, we stayed in the Agi room and my mum stayed in The Gasper Gaff, Agi room is on the...

This is a quirky place to stay but nice to stay somewhere unique and not your typical bland hotel room where you could be anywhere in the world. Klaudia & Szlvie the reception girls were very helpful and recommended some fantastic restaurants. The hotel is located within walking distance of many sights and near to the metro and trams if you don't want to walk as much as we did! The honesty bar upstairs is a nice touch. We stayed in the Printa Suite, which was lovely and is huge. The only negative was that there was building work in the apartment above so we were woken to noise (after 9am) and one evening the noise went on till about 7.30pm, but this will pass. The bed linen was good quality, however, the towels were not good, they had bleach stains and were not very absorbent. Would certainly return to the quirky hotel.

I am an RN and extremely picky when it comes to my sleeping accommodations. I also love the unusual. This was our second stay here in less than a year and it doesn't get any better than the Brody House! It is beautiful, eclectic, clean, a wonderful gathering space, fabulous breakfast and the staff is kind and helpful! There are many stairs to traverse and no elevator so take this in to consideration but it is such a fabulous experience to stay here. I am really hoping that William, one of the owners will consider a Brody House in San Francisco!! one can only hope :)

Stayed here for 3 days (first week of June, 2014) and was completely satisfied and happy; my partner loved it, too. Would stay here again no questions asked. Actually, planning on coming back with my son because it was so great and there are so many kid-friendly things to do in Budapest. Location was very central and quiet, B&B itself was very quiet, rooms were extraordinarily clean, room was unique and made the stay more interesting (compared to staying in a normal, boring hotel room with 4 white walls), bathroom was roomy and spotless, bed and pillows were very comfortable (take this from a guy who's had neck and back problems for most of his life), room very large, not unlike a small apartment/studio. Overall, a fantastic stay at a fantastic place.

The breakfast was pretty good (nice selection of cheeses, teas, yogurts, fruits and local meats, but as some others have said here in Trip Advisor...a bit over-priced at €8/person. Personally, for €110/night I thought the breakfast should have been included.) The breads and rolls seemed store-bought and were flavorless, BUT the 'Fruit Bread' homemade at their Brody Studio and brought over to the Brody House specifically for the guests was OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!). Szilvia suggested a great bakery to us (Pek Pont) and it was only a 2 min. walk from the Brody House. Great baked goods at an extremely cheap price (try the Mascarpone pastry and the mini-donuts filled with either fruit or Nutella and walnuts). Coffee and hot chocolate were both very good, too. Caution: The 3 girls working there do not speak one word of English between them, even though the sign on the window states they are English speakers. No big deal; just an after-thought. I try to be very thorough in my reviews.

The receptionists were extremely helpful and courteous. Szilvia and Klaudia went out of their ways to assist us in seeing wonderful sights and finding great, affordable restaurants that were NOT tourist traps. We would highly recommend all 3 restaurants they suggested. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the names, as they were a bit unusual. One was called Klasse, I think, and it was exceptional. Recommend the duck with risotto !!!!!!!!!!!!!! The other restaurants were located behind the Open Market (Brosco or Bossca or something like that) and in the Jewish community (this restaurant has 2 words in its name and was outstanding !!!!!!! I ordered the duck leg in slow-cooked beans and my partner had duck with plum sauce and potato pancakes. Both dishes were incredible!!!!! They have several homemade lemonades, too, that were unique and very flavorful...........I'm running out of adjectives.). Just ask Szilvia or Klaudia for the names of the restaurants; I am sure they will know exactly the ones of which I speak.

Also, next to the Hard Rock Cafe in the city center, we found a little pizza-type food stand where they served a wide variety of meats and vegetables on thick, homemade bread baked in a kiln-type oven on the premises. Very inexpensive, excellent taste, NOTHING like pizza...MUCH BETTER. My partner and I raved about it for the rest of the night and the next day. We planned on going to get another one, but ran out of time. Don't know what they are called or what the name of the little place was, but you can't miss it right in front of the Hard Rock. Try it...you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: We stayed in The Photo Room and thought it was very cool and unique. Excellent bathroom and shower...

We just spent three days here. Amazing!! First- the building is old and beautiful. And yes- there are stairs to climb- not a place for someone with mobility issues. But- the stairs gave us an excuse for extra croissants at breakfast.

We stayed in the Bullet room. Wood floors, huge two person tub, tons of hot water with great pressure( not always common in Europe!) our room had a huge bed ( and one mattress not two put together). We slept very well and never heard any noise. The room had a/c and a ceiling fan. The ceilings were really high-made the room feel huge- and it was very big by Europe standards.

The front desk staff and the breakfast staff were friendly and always smiling. We had the continental breakfast and sometimes had eggs made. All was good- and they served fresh berries and fruit along with bread and croissants and yogurt. And they make espresso if you like. There are 3 rooms to eat breakfast in- take your pick.

The honor bar- open all the time- had reasonable prices for make your own drinks, wine, and champagne splits. ( split was 1000 huf). Was lovely to meet other guests there before going out and nice for a drink before bed.
There is a lovely courtyard that many of the rooms face- with small tables and candles if you want to sit out there. It had climbing vines and was shady.

We were very relaxed here and sad to leave. We have been to many places in Europe and this is in our top 2. Hotel felt very safe and had a keypad entrance and another keypad entrance to rooms hallway.

Room Tip: Bullet room on second floor, 4 rooms from keyed entry door. Huge room with AC. Would pick it again.

Very conveniently located close to the blue metro line that connects to the airport and near the lovely Hungarian National museum building. We were greeted at the bottom of the stairs once inside the giant wooden door and I knew straight away it was going to be an excellent stay. The building is stunning - high ceilings, features, artwork everywhere and completely charming. There is a little outside courtyard and three large, light rooms for chilling in and having breakfast.
We stayed in the Shoebox room as it was the only one available and I was worried it was going to be too small for us however this was not the case. It had an excellent shower and bathroom area and then crazy steps up to the very comfortable bed. To be honest, we didn't spend much time in the room as we wanted to explore Budapest as much as possible but it was perfectly large enough for the two of us.
Breakfast was extra and although slightly over priced was excellent, toast, croissants, fruit, yogurt and cereals. Staff were friendly and always happy.
If I return to Budapest I would seriously consider staying here again.

Room Tip: All the rooms are completely different. Don't be put off the Shoebox room. Although small it is...
