Reviewed 25 November 2013

I chose the hotel due to its location and tripadvisor's reviews... There where no mistake at all!
Perfect located in the pedestrian area, parking facilities close to the hotel (about 100 meters, 10 euros/night), great design, excellent breakfast, friendly staff, value for the money!
The rooms are decorated in an original way, the mirrors are an interesting clue!

To come back and to recommend!

We stayed here for 3 nights this week. Our room cost roughly £45 per night, booked online.

Our flight was diverted to Austria due to fog and we didn't arrive at the hotel till 6.30am ( having been due at 10pm). I had emailed ahead to request a twin room. Our room was ready and so welcoming after a 5 hour + coach journey. The decor throughout the hotel is smart and modern.
Reception staff were helpful when we purchased tourist bus tickets and a mini bus transfer to and from the airport.

We had the basic style of room and we found it was a good size with plenty of storage, comfortable beds ( they're quite firm, which is how we like them!) and a compact but well-appointed shower room. You can control the air conditioning yourself. Extremely clean, and housekeeping was of a very good standard indeed. We had a room facing the back and it was very quiet. I sleep with the window open and you could occasionally hear the water pipes from outside, but nothing that I think would bother most people.

Breakfast is very good. We ate early, and didn't experience the issues that a few other people have mentioned. I thought the baked goods were delicious. Wide selection of cheeses and cold meats, cereal ,fruit, scrambled eggs and little sausages, plus tea/coffee.

Location is AMAZING. Turn right out of the front door, and within a few steps, you're looking out over the Danube, enjoying some of Budapest's wonderful views. Turn left, and you're onto Vaci Utca, a main, pedestrianed street with higher end shops, souvenir shops and plenty of places to eat. We ate each night at the Italian/Hungarian restaurant which is right next to the hotel's front door, and had yummy food each time. I had an especially delicious bowl of pasta at a very reasonable price, and the waiters are great.

It's about a 10 minute walk to the Great Synagogue, which is one of the stops for the hop on, hop off buses, and is also very close to the departure points for some of the river boats. Also within easy reach is Gerbaud, the Basilica, and Deak Terrace, from where we got the minibus to Statue Park.

This was my 2nd visit to Budapest, and being at this hotel really helped make our trip enjoyable. I would definitely recommend staying in Pest, rather than Buda and would happily return to La Prima.

Just a short review as time is short. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here, as the room was comfortable, clean and well equiped. It is situated in a good position for exploring the city, with some decent restaurants nearby. The breakfast at the hotel is more extensive than I expected so an a star for that. I will be going back to Budapest in may and I will certainly booking here again. The staff here were very polite and helpful. Cant ask more of a hotel. Excellent.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms 302 303 or 304. Thy are a little more, but you can see the river danube from these.

Really good location and friendly and helpful staff. We emailed before our visit to request a room overlooking the street as we had read on here the rooms were bigger than the quieter ones overlooking the internal courtyard. We got a huge (but hard!) bed and lovely powerful shower. Room very clean and modern. Would definitely stay here again. Breakfast was not as varied as we've had before, but was fresh and more than adequate.

We stayed at this hotel for three days in mid-October. The hotel is newly renovated, and the rooms are modern and clean. The location is good if you don't have a car. There is a huge road construction project going on in the heart of Budapest surrounding this hotel. Many of the streets are blocked, and it was extremely difficult to get to this hotel with a car due to all of the construction. My primary issue with this hotel was the lack of customer service. Due to the construction, we could not get to the hotel with a car so we had to park one mile away and walk to the hotel on foot to ask for assistance in getting around the construction. The staff at the hotel was either clueless, lazy, or unwilling to help because they provided zero help. If your hotel is surrounded by construction, you should be aware of it and have some plan for assisting people in getting around it. The attitude we received was, "oh well, good luck." This is the fourth time I have traveled to Europe in the last six years and have been in numerous countries, and I would say that this hotel staff was the least helpful staff I have dealt with on all my trips. I would equate it to the level of service we received in Paris (that is not a compliment by the way). Every time we had basic questions throughout the weekend, we would get, "I don't know for an answer." The staff made no effort to assist us with anything and made us feel like we were bothering them by asking a simple question. I usually like to support small businesses in lieu of big name/chain hotels; however, in this circumstance I would recommend staying at an American hotel chain because the level of customer service is so much higher. We had lunch at the Marriott hotel, which is located a few blocks from this hotel, and the level of service we received there was far superior to La Prima. I would not recommend this hotel for that reason and would not stay here again. We had a group of eight people on this trip (some from the U.S. and some from Germany) and nobody was impressed with this hotel, and we do not understand why it received such high ratings on Tripadvisor. This is not a 4-star hotel.

Dear H S,

Thank you so much for choosing the La Prima Fashion Hotel as your hotel of stay for your three day staycation in Budapest.
I am pleased to read that you were satisfied with the modern décor, the cleanliness of the room and the hotel’s location.
I am really sorry to hear your complain about the helpfulness of our customer service. I appreciate your honest feedback and your comment will be forwarded to the executives of the hotel to take the necessary actions to prevent these kind of dissatisfaction of our future guests. Unfortunately there are many street constructions in the area of the hotel causing difficulities. I would like to apologize for the inconveniences and do hope that when next time you are visiting Budapest, we will have a chance to welcome you back.

This hotel was not known to several taxi drivers. However, we found the location perfect. It was close to the Danube River and close to lots of good restaurants and shopping. It was easy to walk to many, many places including pick up points for bus tours. The décor is rather different with drawings of Jordanian women's faces peering out of large eyes in the guest rooms. Our bathroom was very small and the room was the smallest we had on our trip that included all 4-star properties. But the breakfast was wonderful, staff very helpful and overall a great experience. I would stay there again, but take your own soap. We had a one inch square of soap for 2 of us and it wasn't replaced until 2 days later when it had become an invisible sliver.

It is a good hotel in a very good location with friendly service. You get value for money. However, the breakfast is very moderate and not 4* worthy. They definitely need another bakery because the bread is tough and the sweet pastry is unsubstantial and fat. There is little variation in bread and no whole meal bread at all. The orange juice is from a machine and tastes like water. The fruit in the bowl is only canned fruit. There is very little choice in fresh fruit. There is little variation in cheese and meat for the bread and from average quality. There are no diet products such as low fat milk or yogurt. A better breakfast is within easy reach and many guests have made the same comments. If you would do something with these comments, the hotel would be perfect.
