“Good burger, football and great choice of beer.....what else do you need”
Reviewed 25 October 2012

I want to say the burger was great but i felt cheated with the size of the patty, however the taste was indeed worthy...they also added onion rings and potatoes which for me is a huge plus....the foreign beer is a bit pricy which is a pity...and there are some good offers with a barrel or bucket....portions are very generous but not too generous as to waste......Service was a bit slow but only to get my order once that was done we were good to go........so all in all we left with a full tummy and a smile on our face

“Good standard pub”
Reviewed 27 November 2011

We went here for a weekday lunch and beer and were rather hesitant given it's location in the prime shopping streets. But it was packed with locals having their lunch time set menu which we took as a good sign. Range of beers is very good, all the standard global brands. Prices were what you'd expect given its location and target marget, so above average but you can always have a 0.5l of Dreher for 670h. Bottled fancier beer we paid 1290 and 1190h for. We didn't go for the set menu, which was probably a mistake because the huge burgers going to other tables looked great! We had a platter (1990h) of tapas style things which was delcious, the chicken soup (950h) was good too. I don't recomend the beef tartar (2390h), it was more of a strong paprika meat paste than the traditional tartar. I liked this place, for a shopping break and quick lunch and drink. It was comfy, warm, service quick and friendly.

“Good pub food and drink behind unpromising exterior”
Reviewed 14 October 2011

The Silenus looks pretty unprepossessing from the outside, being housed in a modern glass and concrete block rather than a typical Pest Art Nouveau mansion. However, the interior is pleasant and comfortable enough and, most importantly, it serves a huge range of beers and good, very reasonably priced Hungarian food (e.g beef stew, pork knuckle). The goulash soup is particularly recommended. Service is friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is relaxed, perhaps slightly studenty. A shared starter and a main course each, washed down with plenty of beer, came in at around GBP15 per person.
