Brand new property close to major sights. Given choice of water still or sparkling or orange juice at check in (nice touch). Great staff, checked in around 5 and i assume hotel was nearly full as we got I suspect a very nice upgrade to a top floor room, which was fab even electric curtains. Beautiful large bathroom, and views. Cool decor think W with a spanish twist. Very nice spa area. So far so god here for 2 more nights.

Room Tip: check in late and hope they run out of regular rooms...

We have just arrived back from Budapest and stayed five days at the Iberostar Grand. We had a wonderful stay there and it made our trip to Budapest one of our most enjoyable city breaks.

Firstly, the welcome was second to none. We were sat down at the reception desk and offered refreshments and were then speedily checked in and taken up to our room. We booked a Junior Suite which was massive. Quirky décor from the reception area’s Alice in Wonderland feel to a contemporary four poster bed with red and black furniture in our room. Our room had plenty of seating, a well stocked bar, good lighting, large storage cupboards and one of the biggest bathrooms I’ve ever experienced in a hotel with a standalone bath, separate shower area and separate WC. The bed was also huge (Superking size?) and very comfortable.

The sound proofing in the hotel was one of its best features in my opinion. We overlooked the square and there was actually a music festival on for most of our stay. Whilst the secondary glazing couldn’t block out all the noise of a rock band, it did a pretty good job and the noise levels were of little concern to us. The music stopped before 11pm and although there were still hundreds of people in the square, very little noise was transmitted into our room. Normally you also hear other hotel guests, from the corridor, from above etc; not so in this hotel. We were told the hotel was 95% full but we never heard a thing from other guests and had some of the best sleeps ever in a hotel.

Another great asset the hotel has is their staff. From the manageress to the waiting staff, they have got it spot on in my opinion. Everyone was professional, friendly, happy to share information on their city, greeted you warmly (without exception) and generally made you feel welcome. We actually experienced this throughout Budapest, everyone seemed genuinely happy to help. London, Paris, New York - take note!

Breakfast was exceptional. We are both vegetarian and we were spoilt for choice which is not usually the case. There was a cold buffet with a large choice and also a hot menu to order from, including omelettes, scrambled eggs etc. Sparkling wine was also included in the breakfast menu if required!

Whilst we didn’t eat in the restaurant at night (too many choices nearby) we did use the bar with a great outdoor seating which was a perfect spot to people watch. The waiters again couldn’t be more helpful and remembered which wine we enjoyed. They even looked after a half finished bottle of wine for us until the next night; how many top hotels would do that free of charge?

I used the spa one afternoon and was pleasantly surprised at how well equipped it was. I was the only person there which was a bonus!

The hotel’s location in my opinion couldn’t be better. Parliament, the Basilica, the Chain Bridge, the main shopping streets etc. were all within easy walking distance. There are some gritty neighbourhoods in every city, and Budapest has its share of these, however this particular location felt very clean, very safe and had a great buzz. On Oktober itself there were many great bars and restaurants, we ate twice in an Italian place two blocks away (next to the soldier statue) which was brilliant. The café in the middle of the square opposite also did great food and coffee.

I’d recommend hiring bikes and using the city’s cycle lanes. We cycled around Margaret Island which was almost traffic free. These guys were brilliant (www.bikebase.hu) and for around 5GBP you get a 6 hour hire which was plenty for us. We tried a company located in the Millennium Centre, off Vaci, first however their shop was hard to find and they weren’t even open.

We also went to the famous Széchenyi Baths which are located in the City park, not to be missed. Take a towel, some sun cream, some drinking water and flip flops. Pay for a locker on arrival and you avoid the queues inside to deposit your valuables. We paid for two sun beds which were fairly cheap (3GBP each per day) and seemed to be in demand when it’s busy. Get there in the morning to secure a good spot!

All in all a fantastic trip to Budapest and made memorable by our stay at the Iberostar Grand. Highly recommended!

Nice, clean and modern hotel, good furniture and excellent views on the square from the top floors. Breakfast really amazing - widest choice one might have in any top hotel! Apart from typically spanish cold cuts (jamon, spanish cheese plates, salmon, tortilla, all types of bocadillas and pastries) they offer hot meal like pancakes, all types of eggs, of course, sausages, beans etc. Freshly squeezed juice and excellent capuccino!
Our room was cleaned perfectly every day, plus after our visit to the SPA area we found nice goodnight wishes on our beds.
We booked it at promotional rate, so value for money was really above expectations! Location great, as well - close to the main attractions of the city and the Chain Bridge to cross the river.
Highly advised

Spacious rooms, wacky decoration, attentive staff. My only gripe would be the long wait for cooked breakfast dishes, but there is plenty of stuff available from the buffet without waiting. Nice little spa with sauna and steam room. The jacuzzi was bubbling quite wildly, but we enjoyed the mood lighting in the spa.

I stayed for one night only in May, usually I like to stay longer before I review the hotel, but this place was such a nice experience that I still want to write about it. Arrived a bit early with child and was greated by a very sweet lady in the reception who took care of my luggage. We sat down in the reception and was offered freshly squeezed orange juice and sparkling water on the house. We left and returned a couple of hours later, new staff in the reception, but they knew at once that I had already checked in. Very nice. Got my room. Everything about the room is GREAT, but the room I got only had windows facing the interior of the building which gave me a bit of a Titanic-feel. I think it would be all right that this is informed about upon check in. I didn't complain cause I was spending most of that day outside. But next time I book a room I will ask for a room that has windows either to the square or the oktober 6 street. I had a standard double room: COMFY beds, chocolate and mini.cakes put out in the room. Lots of nice stash in the minibar which was ok priced being a 5 star hotel. BATHROOM: amazing and BIG with lots and lots of soaps body lotions and so on. I could go on. Went to sleep with a big problem though: Aircon was EXTREMELY NOISY. Got help to turn it off, but it didn't help. Hope the hotel solves this soon. Had breakfast next day, and again: VERY SWEET staff, excellent choice of eggs, fruits, coffees, cheeses and what not. The breakfast area is also gorgeous. Upon checkout again, nice, friendly and good-looking guy in reception fixed us a Taxi. Will happilycome back again if air con is fixed and I get a room facing square or street.

We very much enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The room was very nicely decorated with a large TV screen and we loved the coffee machine, although we did fine it strange that we drank the coffee but it was replaced by tea so had to ask a couple of times for coffee, Our room had an internal window which was fine but we had to go down to reception and outside each morning to check on the weather. We didn't have breakfast so can't comment. The spa was lovely but it was a real pain as everytime you wanted to use it you had to go to reception to tell them that you wanted to use it and then wait for someone to turn it on - so if the spa is your main focus check to make sure it is working correctly. The location of the hotel is perfect and within easy walk of the main attractions. From the airport you can get the bus 200E which then takes you to the metro and straight into the city. The transport system is brilliant and very easy to use. Watch the restaurant on the next corner (when turning right out of the main door) food good but they do rip you off with drinks if you are not careful. Would visit Budapest again and would stay at this hotel again .

Room Tip: We had 210 which only had an internal window.

My husband and I stayed here when visiting Budapest in May. The hotel is ideally situated, just two minutes from the Parliament and only a short walk to most of the major turist attractions. The hotel was very modern and and unusual, but at the same time very comfortable and a lot of small details gave a feeling of luxury. The staff couldn't have been nicer, always smiling and very accomodating. We had a room on the 5th flour with large panoramic windows, a bathroom to die for and the most comfortable beds we have ever experienced. All in all a great experience, we will certainly stay there again.
