Perfect place to sample delicious Hungarian food at a most reasonable cost, in a basic, but friendly authentic colourful surrounding. Small number of hard working staff managed to cope with a busy and very popular place. Customers are a mix of ages but mainly well behaved younger people, some were even happy to wait a short while outside for a table to become available. (we are in our sixties and enjoyed every moment of the hustle and bustle going on) but go for the food (it is well worth it), not a chat to the waiter. Not to difficult to find either. Not often we go back to the same place twice on a city break as we like to sample different restaurants, but we could not resist a second visit as there had been so many mouthwatering dishes to choose from. And the bill was a very pleasant reason to go back as well.

I would have come back here for dinner every night that I was in Budapest. The food was cheap, the portions were large, and the service was great. I of course had the goulash and langosh. The beers and palinka were cheap and went very well along with the meal.

It looked like they had wifi and there were many languages being spoken by the patrons.

We had our apartment nearby so one day we went there simply because it was close. It is called cafe, but it is rather a small restaurant, they have a lot of courses, practically all of hungarian famous dishes and snacks, but also pizza and pasta. We really enjoyed blueberry beer. The big asset is price - really low compared to places close to the river or big attractions.

I have to say that this is perhaps the best budget restaurant in Budapest.
Food is not superb, but is fairly close to that...besides the price for a traveler that wishes to try many different traditional dishes cannot be better
Highly recommended
besides it has several vegy dishes

u'll not regreat

We visited this place two times during our stay in Hungary. It is a little bit off the touristy street, and this makes is a great value as prices are much lower than in the centre. It is a quaint restaurant with only about 6 tables but very busy and the waiter was hopping all night. On our second visit we were told that there is a bit of a problem as langoshes, which are pretty dominant on their menu, were not going to be available until later that night. A bit disappointing, but there is plenty on the menu to chose from. Both times we left full and satisfied. Definitely would go back when in Hungary.
