Owner description: The Hospital in the Rock Nuclear Bunker Museum is a thrilling, unique and moving place. Visitors can learn about the WWII and the 1956 revolution as well as the Cold War in relation to this former TOP SECRET nuclear bunker. It had an important role during the war and it was classified until 2002 and opened as a museum in 2008. The place ensures a real time warp into the past. Mobiles are not working inside. Do not expect a regular museum. One hour long tour departs every hour in English. Guide books are available in several languages. Unforgettable experience underneath the Castle Hill. The entrance is only about 5 minutes walk from the famous Matthias-Church of Buda Castle.

One hour tour through a fully functioning (back in WWII era) hospital and cold war ear air raid shelter. Fascinating for history lovers and physicians.

A great time spent learning about the history of the hospital during the 1940's-60's. The place is packed with original medical equipment and the tour guide was very interesting to listen to.

Would strongly recommend a visit whilst in the Buda Castle District.

Loved it but as we were not allowed to take photograph I expected to purchase cards in a gift shop. They didn't have any

I loved the way the guide, a very young girl, explained all the good things that happened down here but at the same time I felt the horror that could be felt for all those who were crammed there in this labyrinthic place. If you feel claustrophobic, avoid visiting this hospital

Super interesting. The place is hard to find, we almost gave up looking for it since we knew that we had to arrive on the hour to be there for the tour. It is behind Budapest Castle, down some steps and to the right. Leave enough time to look for it. My husband is an M.D. and he really loved it. So much better than the usual museum since you are actually in the cave and you see the materials in the actual locations. Guides were knowledgeable and spoke great English. Take a jacket, they have these coats available, but I don't know how often they are cleaned so take a light jacket with you.
