Owner description: The Hospital in the Rock Nuclear Bunker Museum is a thrilling, unique and moving place. Visitors can learn about the WWII and the 1956 revolution as well as the Cold War in relation to this former TOP SECRET nuclear bunker. It had an important role during the war and it was classified until 2002 and opened as a museum in 2008. The place ensures a real time warp into the past. Mobiles are not working inside. Do not expect a regular museum. One hour long tour departs every hour in English. Guide books are available in several languages. Unforgettable experience underneath the Castle Hill. The entrance is only about 5 minutes walk from the famous Matthias-Church of Buda Castle.

It deserve to visit 100%, the best choice is the 19:00 flashlight tour (full darkness inside), it is more fun and misterious.

Great value for money as it included an hour tour with a knowledgeable and friendly tour guide - Akos was fab! Really interesting look into wartime hospital care. Plus the capes make it even more authentic!

This place is definitely worth finding and visiting. Tour the old hospital / nuclear bunker with a knowledable guide. Walking through did feel like a step back in time - a oddly horrifying glimpse at what it might have been like during the seize of Buda. Those who attempted to provide medical care in those circumstances are worthy of respect. The tour gives you wool wraps to keep you warm during the tour. I am not sure you need to bother with these (especially if you go during the summer). I enjoyed being able to read the English subtitles on intro movie - so you might want to sit forward for the film. No photos allowed inside - so if you are schleping a camera around - don't bother for the inside.

This is a truly odd place, but probably the highlight of my trip. It is an abandoned hospital and nuclear bunker buried under Buda. The tour is very interesting, and the museum is full of all the original apparatus, with add mannequins made to look like the real people. One of those truly memorable experiences - I couldn't recommend it any more highly!

This was a guided tour of Budapest's secret hospital that helped see them through the end of WW2. It is set up as a wax museum, which really adds to the understanding of how it was used and the conditions that people endured to give and receive care during the war. The tour guide knew his stuff. If you are a doctor, nurse or paramedic, bring your ID because you get a discount on the price! Wear a coat or sweater because the caves are chilly, but they do have some coats to loan.
