Check in was swift and professional. Porter showed us to our room and quickly explained everything. We had a corner suite, lovely large room with a bath large enough for a football team. In fact it is a bit pointless being so big and it has no cushioning round the outside so when you lie down it is very uncomfortable. Room is dark but we knew it would be. Bed was enormous and very comfortable. Japanese toilet seemed too gimmicky. No tea in the room so we rang down and it was sent up together with a kettle but the used tea bags were never replaced.
The breakfast was quite good, didn't have the hot . One waitress could do with smiling . All the other staff we encountered were lovely.
The location is excellent for exploring on foot, close to the bridge up to the castle and easy to walk to all the sites or get the hop on hop off bus which we did on the first day.

Just Got back from a lovley trip to budapest, we booked 2 rooms, one for me and my fiancee, And one for my sister, i have to say, The Hotel looks great but we had a few problems,
First of all the location is great, in the center and close to everything, My and my fiancee got an excutive room which the hair drayer was broken and a few lights didn't worked (The hotel fixed those problems very quickly) And they didn't cleaned the room 100% (We ate KFC in the room and left it in the room and we expect they will throw it away but it stayed in the room for 2 days)
My sister had a single room, she received a room for handicapped person and the toilet and the shower was on the same room which was a big problem becuase the water filled the room and wasn't comfortable at all, When we complaind about it they said the hotel is fully booked and it's nothing they can do.
As i said i wasn't expected this ansewer from a 5 stars hotel.
Besides the hotel was great.

Outstanding hotel in all aspects. Rooms were amazing (clean, well decorated and good size), service was impeccable. Hotel staff were constantly preempting my needs. The location is perfect. Very central in a very good area close to commerce, night life and the river. Very easy to get from there to the main touristic areas. Will be returning soon.

The Buddha-Bar hotel met most of our expectations! The check-in is easy and fast, and a person from the reception walks you to your room. We stayed at a standard room and it was great. High cealing, comfy bed and great design! Expect some noise from the bar/nightclub. There was a party when we stayed here, and the bass was really loud even in the room. I guess this might not be every saturday? The hotel itself is located om the main tourist street, and it's not far from the Danube. This is a good location for walking around the city of Budapest. The staff was great, except for some staff in the breakfast restaurant. They could do with some "smile"-training.. The breakfast also isn't what you would expect from a 5-star hotel. Not many choices, and you can only order one hot-order like fried eggs and bacon. To sum up, we enjoyed our stay at the Buddha-Bar hotel, and will probably stay here next time we visit Budapest. But please - do a better breakfast and get those smiles going :-)

Located very close to the Danube and the main shopping area, this hotel is in a stunning old building and definitely worth a visit. The welcome was cordial and efficient, we asked for a quiet room and one was found for us. The staff are Buddha Bar's greatest asset, all spoke excellent English and could not be more helpful.

The décor is unusual and stylish, it's dark which makes for a chilled, relaxing experience. It is this lack of light that brings me to my first niggle - when you reach a certain age (50+) your eyesight isn't what it once was, the gloom in the room made it very difficult to read anything! Applying make up was also a challenge, especially if the bathroom was in use. Where was the well lit mirror in the bedroom?!

Second niggle along similar lines - where do you plug in your hair straighteners? For an effective, safe, hair straightening operation you need a mirror, light and an electrical socket. The only place all three were present was in the bathroom, shock! I had to unplug the hair dryer by squeezing my hand down the back of the drawer (obviously designed to make this difficult/impossible) and then insert plug complete with travel adapter. Probably wouldn't meet UK regs but I wasn't prepared to go out with curly, frizzy hair!

Many reviewers have written about the remote control toilet - I have always hated warm toilet seats (the idea that I'm following someone else rankles) but couldn't switch it off! My husband soaked the whole room with the shower as the door wouldn't stay closed. Both minor points though. Excellent toiletries from the White Company and great towels, fluffy and large enough to be useful.

The bed was very comfortable, the robe and slippers excellent (I'm still wearing the slippers!!), the Nespresso machine was very welcome, making a change from the usual sachets of instant but sadly there were only three capsules - cue argument. We came away much better informed as the only English speaking channels on the TV were news channels.

The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice, we had eggs benedict with salmon every morning as we enjoyed it so much. Unfortunately, one morning my husband's was cold giving the impression that it had been left lying around or the eggs put into cold water to stop them cooking and not brought back to temperature properly.

We enjoyed Budapest, the architecture, the views from the Pest side of the river, the food and the local wine were all highlights. We will return one day as three days wasn't enough to see all this charming city has to offer.

Dear Poppy,

Thank you very much for your time to post a review on Tripadvisor and help other travellers in their choice! Delighted to hear that your time with us was an enjoyable one and thus your Budapest trip was a memorable one.
It a pure delight for me to hear your positive feedback about our staff, indeed we put high emphasis on training and motivation to achieve a pleasant and professional guest contact and to distinguish ourselves with such an important guest approach from other big brands.
I very much appreciate your constructive comments as well, since this helps us to understand the need of our guests and set the way for improvement.
Let me go through your comments one-by-one to answer them. The décor itself is the core of the Buddha-Bar concept based on the special colour schemes, the lighting and the famous Buddha-Bar music. Since we are aware that the dim lighting cannot always be an advantage, we are already working on a solution to install extra lights in the rooms and to have stronger bulbs in the corridors to ensure the convenient level of light. I do apologize that this made it difficult for you to enjoy your readings or to apply your make-up. Modern setups have their challenges when design and functionality might not exactly match and the socket in the drawer is a perfect example of it. This is something we still need to work on. I am sorry if the heated toilet seat did not meet your expectations and I understand that it is not for everybody’s satisfaction. Regarding the TV channels I have good news, it is only a matter of days now to start with a fresh new television menu which will include general ones beside the news channels.
I really do hope that you will soon have a chance to repeat your trip to Budapest to discover what’s left and of course it would be our pleasure to host you again at the Buddha-Bar Hotel Budapest! Should you need any assistance with the pre-arrangements, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at tamas.fazekas@buddhabarhotel.hu.

Kind Regards,
Tamás Fazekas
General Manager

A great location, it was a very reasonable taxi fare from the airport about half an hour away. As one of two former palace buildings, my initial impression of the exterior was excellent. Having never stayed in a five-star hotel before, it was a reassuring warm welcome for us as a couple obviously there on a shoestring Expedia deal budget! Staff were extremely helpful on introduction as well as helping arrange trips/ answering enquiries during our stay. The room was fantastic and everything in the hotel from the atmospheric bar to the relaxing and non-crowded spa, made for a very enjoyable romantic break away. Lots of things to see and places to eat for everyone nearby. A great base for exploring this lovely, clean city packed with history and national pride.

This hotel deserves its high reputation. The services it offered, starting from bar, restaurant, spa and the usual hotel services, were carried out with extreme professionalism and politeness. The quality of these services was equally high. The hotel was as beautifully decorated and as clean as it was presented on the website. I have very much enjoyed it.
