We stayed at the Residence Baron in June 2012 for 4 nights. We didn't realize what a wonderful location it is - about 200 m from the Chain Bridge, 100 m to the Great Market Hall, around the corner from Vaca and very close to a tram line. The room was small but had all the necessary amenities, most importantly air con. The breakfast was delicious with lots of choices. If you wanted an egg or whatever you could ask for it. The staff everywhere was helpful and hospitable. I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in a superior double room. Got best rate on hotels.com. Rooms are a good size with dressing gowns, room control air con, kettle to make tea / coffee (very unusual for a European hotel to have a kettle in room), fridge in room with mini bar but you can take out their drinks and place your own inside to keep cool without incurring a charge like some hotels who do not allow this. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Location is excellent, in the ‘Pest’ side just off Vaci Street, across street from Market Hall and a short stroll to Kalvin Ter underground station. Only ate breakfast at hotel which was fine, only thing was cooked food was a little bit slow from kitchen ( 25mins wait for an omelette & 15mins for 2 fried eggs). Ate in Thai restaurant directly across street from hotel and it was lovely.

Only negative experience was the door to room has to be locked both inside and out with a key that is attached to a heavy brass holder and this bangs off the door when using it so we were woken up 2 nights in a row by someone in the next room opening their door at 3am and 5am. I am a light sleeper so I was not surprised that this woke me but my husband is a deep sleeper and he was woken both nights also. The TV and Internet only worked 1 out of the 4 nights but I believe they have a new software system in the hotel which they are experiencing some ‘teething problems’ with and it should be sorted very quickly.

Will definitely return to Budapest and will defiantly return to the Residence Baron.

We stayed in the Residence Baron for one night on 12 June 2012 prior to joining a cruise down the Lower Danube.
The room was booked through Booking.com at a discounted rate.
Immediately after booking the hotel contacted us to ask if we neeeded a transfer from the airport and if we had any special needs.
We actually sued the transfer as we were arriving late and it was only a bit more expensive than a taxi. The car and driver were excellent and the fee went entirely to the driver.
We were allocated a small suite despite only staying one night and the hotel was probably 75% full.
Service from staff throughout was excellent. the room was comfortable and its location opposite the Market hall and adjacent to the riverboat piers ideal. Breakfast is not exceptional but nicely served by friendly staff.
Certianly on the list if we need to stay in Budapest again.

Stayed in Budapest for 10 days and had a fab time exploring the city. Lots to see and do for all ages. We were very near a transport hub - and Market Hall. that sold losts of fresh produce. Hotel was good value for money, great breakfast, small but comfortable rooms/beds.
Free wifi a plus. We ate in the dining room on two occassions and had a delicious meal each time.
We also used the spa and sauna daily after walking around the city. Bliss...

Only negative comment would be tat you had to buy room refreshments after the first day, at the cost of 1 euro per drink, we didn't use this service.

Found this place via tripadvisor. Stayed here for 2 days and it was wonderful. The hotel is located near the Liberty bridge on the Pest side within walking distance to all the sites. The pedestrian street is right around the corner as is an exchange place with the best rates we saw in the area. The staff was friendly and helpful. They spoke perfect English if this is important to you. Price includes a huge breakfast. Rooms were clean, had a computer with free internet, TV, a/c. On our last day they figured out, from our questions, that we were leaving on an early train. They called us to tell us that our breakfasts would be waiting for us when we checked out, without us asking for it! Highly recommended.
