“great location”
Reviewed 11 October 2013

The hotel arranged a pick up for us at the airport, very well organised and straight into our room on arrival. The hotel is very close to the market hall and is slap bang in the middle of town. Loved the local fish restaurant a block away. We were going on a river cruise so had a 5minute stroll to the boat from the hotel. All of the staff were extremely helpful and I would certainly go back on our next visit.

We loved this small hotel. The staff were wonderful especially Rene who worked in reception. The welcome and information he gave us on arrival was first class. The hotel is very central with lots of lovely restaurants near by. The market hall is in the next street, we visited around 10 in the morning as I'm sure it would become very crowded later on in the day. Take the city bus tour which is for 2 days and includes a sail down the Danube . Great value for money around about £13 gbp. The street at the side of the hotel has some lovely small quaint restaurants which were also great value for money. We were paying around £25 gbp for 2 persons, 2 courses and drinks. The weather report said 25c however we found it cold this time of year so for September I would recommend long trousers and a jacket . Overall a great city break and would definitely recommend Residence Baron Hotel.

Room Tip: Room 304 overlooked the street

I have reason to believe now that our taxi driver from the airport was driving like a lunatic to get us quickly to this super little hotel. It is very central, close to the river, the main street for restaurants, gift shops, etc., the indoor market and the tram stop.

All of the reception staff were lovely and extremely helpful. The room was spotlessly clean and I did wonder how I was going to manage on the narrower than average single bed but, I needn't have been concerned. It was so comfortable and the room (once the window was closed) was quiet, that I slept very well.

Although our shower room was small, there was space to put things and we had bathrobes each as well which was a nice touch. It was useful to have a television doubling up as a pc in the bedroom.

Good choice for breakfast and attentive staff. We also ate in the restaurant one evening and the food was of a good standard and, again, we had an attentive waiter looking after us.

Great value for money and have already recommended this hotel to friends and family.

Boutique type hotel that ticked all the boxes, location was spot on as it was based at the bottom of the main thoroughfare (Vaci utca), we arrived around midnight and were warmly greeted by the staff, once checked in the receptionist pointed us in the direction of a great pub around the corner (the for sale pub), ample breakfast, never used the restaurant or jacuzzi etc......

We stayed in the Residence Baron for three nights. We had a cozy room on the upper floor but it was plenty for us. The bathroom had all the usual things to make us comfortable. Our breakfast was included each morning and was a very nice variety of food that our group enjoyed. Our friends' luggage was lost by the airlines and the front desk staff was wonderful in making calls for our friends and tracking it down. Their assistance was invaluable! The location was great as it was near the indoor market, the main shopping street and the river.

Our "Superior Room" was very small with free aircon, safe and hairdryer. Kettle with tea, coffee and dried milk, which were not replenished. I suggest you take some from home and get some milk for the fridge from the bar or breakfast. No bath, but did use our bathrobes and visit the little swimming pool and jacuzzi both with waves (free of charge) which were great after walking around the city. Nice breakfast.
The hotel is just off the pedestrian street, opposite the Central Market with its famous eateries upstairs and colourful paprika stalls. The walk up and down the waterfront was beautiful, especially at night.
Paid £16 for a hop-on hop-off bus which was excellent value. Used it for 2 days and on the second day travelled using their boat up to St Margaret's Island to the gorgeous gardens and the amazing dancing fountain (music on the hour). We also had a free boat ride on the same day at 10 pm to see the lights.
Deak Forence Square had live music with cheap beer and food from "German style market stalls". Visited the famous Astoria Cafe and Cafe Central for sacher cake. Matthias Church was absolutely beautiful and the fishermans' bastion with its amazing views and fairytale turrets.
To use the trams and/or metro you can buy single tickets from the post office beside the hotel. Just buy one per unbroken journey you plan to make that day.

Room Tip: It is on a little side street so seemed quiet location for any room. We had no view from our superi...

We stayed here for 7 nights in July and the hotel far exceeded our expectations. The location is fantastic and the staff are very helpful. The decor is old world but very clean and stylish. Very clean rooms and the bathroom is spotless and well stocked and the air con was great. Room was a good size and very clean, large, very comfortable bed, TV/Internet access, plenty of storage, fridge/minibar and safe.
The breakfast buffet is pretty standard but if you don't fancy anything from it you can order off a set menu for no additional cost.
The location is terrific - at the end of Vaci Utca, near the market hall, one minute from the trams and about three minutes from the Metro, which makes getting around incredibly easy. It's two minutes from Liberty Bridge, from where you can walk across up to the citadel, or follow the Danube. Plenty of restaurants etc nearby, and you can get pretty much anywhere near the centre in 20 minutes using public transport.
Very good value for money and the staff were incredibly helpfull.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the Liberty Bridge - fantastic!
