Excellent localization - a quiet alley in the city center. There are a few restaurants in the area, also an Irish Pub, a short walk to Danube, Gellert hill, Old Town and lovely bystreets. Prices are suprisingly low, personnel and owner really friendly and helpful. If you want they willingly advise you where to go. The only drawback is strictly enforced curfew - there is no chance for a party. But on the other hand you can get enough sleep on comfortable mattresses. :) I truly recommend this hostel!

Room Tip: The new apartment is charming and spacious!

Couldn't believe how amazing the location was, so close to the main square and the Danube and just a perfect location really! Hostel itself was lovely, in a really nice building with lovely rooms. Guy who worked there was super friendly and helpful and accommodating. Can not fault the hostel and would pay more than the ridiculously cheap price I did pay. Would 100% recommend and return.

When we arrived at the hostel we were amazed by the location, it's in a great area close to shops, cafe's, bars and the metro. Everything looked great inside, nice decor, heaps of brochures and discount cards available at reception, wi-fi etc. As there was a problem with our booking (a double booking) we were sent to an apartment block a bit further away at a small fee. The apartment was quite nice, location was also not too bad. Had everything we needed, plus more. We were glad the problem was solved but unhappy to be left in that position.

I booked our room using their own website. I was a little nervous at first, since it looked like the room was still available to rent, but the staff assured me they had reserved it for me. Around 2 weeks before our arrival, they mailed me and asked me to confirm the booking, and that was great since I had planned to do it myself anyway.
When we arrived we realized that the room was not exactly as stated on the website, and that is why I won't give them a 5, but it was still good and to our taste, we never regretted our booking. The only things different were that there was no fridge or computer in the room, but the manager (who is very nice and helpful, as is all of the staff) explained why, and you still have access to both of them in the common areas. Might be good to know though if this is a deal-breaker for you. The water in the shower was also very hot, and on a timer. We chose to only have one key to our room, and left a small cash deposit that we got back when we checked out again.

We took a taxi to the hostel since we arrived very late in the evening, but it would have been easy with public transport (which we used frequently during our stay) It was easy to find the right door when you got into the building, because there are several signs. The location is just great, right in the middle of the city, and in a wonderful, old building, yet it is so very quiet. There are no sounds coming from the streets except sirens (and let's face it, they are meant to be heard ;) ) and the beds were quite comfortable, probably medium hard mattresses. There were thick curtains that held out the light nicely. We bought all of our breakfasts at the Tesco nearby; cheap and lots to choose from (we had yoghurt and bananas, and bought bottled water) and since we travelled light, we rented towels from the hostel.

We had the nicest room, number 4, and would definitely book this room again if we return to Budapest!

Hi there,
To get the negatives out of the way first, we thought we'd have an en-suite loo but we didn't. Though the shower was indeed en-suite. We were in the satellite rooms and so were just down the corridor from the reception. The owner was very helpful and proud of his hostel, which is what you want. He speaks English well too, though is not always there (but one of his staff always was).
The loos were very clean and only seemed to be used by 'another room' of guests, whom we hardly met. Our own room was very clean. The kitchen was clean too and there was fridge and kettle for guests (which we used) and toaster and cooker (which we didn't).
The high ceiling in our room allowed for bunk beds at three levels! We only used up to the first level. Mattresses were perhaps a tad thin but that was not a problem. There was minimal street noise and we slept well.
Location is good and we walked to Paliament and over the bridge to the Castle. And we had our two children (2 years and 4 years) with us so if we could do that, we're sure you could. My wife mentions it was very near to the Metro station where lines cross and so you don't need top change lines as often as other locations.
The building is nice and old, and full of character. I only felt sorry for the poor plant in Reception as it survives without daylight!
If you are fussy about a private loo you may look elsewhere but this is a great value place in a fab location that we would be happy to return to.
Best,
David and Co.
(They seem to have a deal with a local restaurant – discount voucher and a couple of free drinks – and that was fine too; I'll review that tomorrow.)

Very good value for money. We turned up at the hostel and were told that we had booked a private room and that it wasn't actually on the same site as the hostel. We were given a map to follow and told it was only a short walk away, this was true. The receptionist was very helpful and spoke excellent English. After finding our room, it turned out to be a completely separate apartment with 2 rooms and a kitchen. Very spacious and beautiful and right in the city centre. Would definitely go back here and stay. The only issue we had during our stay was that every time you had a shower, the bathroom flooded, however this didn't detract from the lovely accommodation.

The location is great, right next to the Astoria metro station. The reception staff was very friendly and helpful. The hostel looks a bit cheap, but since it's very cheap (we payed 6 € a person per night for a quadruple room) that's OK, really. I stayed at many hostels double the price that were far worse. Our room had 5 simple beds instead of 2 double beds, and there was no smoking area, as advertised. We had a private bathroom and a kitchenette, but the shower was a bit cold and it had a button that you had to be constantly pressing. There were lockers in the room. The room seemed quite clean, the bathroom less. The beds were not very confortable as some of the matresses were very thin. There was a computer in the room, but it looked like from the 90's, I don't know how well it worked. The wifi worked fine. I'd say it's a perfect place if you are travelling alone, want to meet new people and party.
