Based on the other TripAdvisor review, my young teenage daughter and I signed up to attend a Sunday morning concert at Mr. Fellegi's home. Although our entire trip to Budapest was lovely and unforgettable, this concert may well have been the highlight. Budapest is a musical city, and we took advantage of the opera and listened to music elsewhere: but how often can you go to someone's home and listen to a top-quality concert in intimate surroundings? I only wish we had spoken Hungarian to understand the commentary that preceded the pieces (Beethoven), but considering that all the other attendees were locals, that was to be expected! The 'fee' is whatever you think is worthy of a concert of this quality in your home country, to be put into a closed urn under the piano.
The intermission took place in Mr. Fellegi's kitchen, where he thoughtfully provides drinks and small snacks for the concert-goers. Anyone who is a true fan of classical music--and especially anyone wishing to get beyond the usual tourist sites--should definitely put attending a Fellegi concert at the top of their list of Budapest "musts". Outstanding. SImply outstanding.
