“Chocolate lovers”
Reviewed 11 November 2013 via mobile

Didn't manage to get to a chocolate making class but came here twice for the hot chocolate. The hot chocolate is wonderful. Very creamy. And I like cream! A fab selection of cake and chocs too!
Nice for an afternoon pick me up.

“Fantastic café, way better than Gerbeaud and the other famous ones!”
Reviewed 1 November 2013

We came here by coincidence - and what a great surprise! Szamos is better than the other more famous nearby cafés, and the prices are much lower! Try their desserts, they are delicious, just like their icecream! Highly recommended!

“Really nice, worth a visit”
Reviewed 30 October 2013

In contrast to all the tourist trap and plastic americana outside, this place is really lovely. It's a really nice building and the interior has lots of treats, including being able to see people make things with chocolate behind a screen. The staff are really nice and efficient and the cakes are lovely, though I recommend sharing between two as they are heavy. They have a couple of options where it's like a tasting plate with 3 cakes - that's worth getting.

Make sure you get a seat in the inside room (middle?) so you can see them making chocolate.

“Traditional 2 course set lunch”
Reviewed 29 October 2013

After cake and coffee on an earlier visit, we returned to Szamos for lunch. There was a range of menu options but we settled on the fixed 2 course lunch for 8 Euros - soup and a beef stew - both excellent. The waitress was dressed in the traditional black waistcoat and bow tie - the local customers were smartly dressed - service was helpful and friendly. We enjoyed eating what local people eat - rather than the "international"
