Owner description: Scenic arch bridge (circa 1876) connecting the southern part of Budapest with Margaret Island, the city's popular island park and recreation area.

This amazing bridge is best viewed at night although taking a bike ride across is quite spectacular during the day time. If you have time I highly recommend you take in this bridge as well as all others in Budapest. The summer time right on dusk is the best as you get the sun going down and the amazing city lights coming to life. Bring your camera for some 'time in motion' snaps. This bridge was my favorite.

We really liked the unusual shape of the bridge, although others don't seem impressed. This was the best nighttime opportunity that we found for views and photos. We also hadn't realised (until walking across the bridge) that it gives direct access to Margaret Island.

Margaret bridge connects Buda and Pest over the beautiful Danube river to Margaret Island and is one of the oldest bridges in Budapest. It is very busy with regards to traffic, especially with tourist buses, (which we were on), but we also had the chance to stop and take in the views of the surrounds. As our tour guide has suggested though, it has become the most congested bridge of the Hungarian capital. The great history and architecture is well worth a stop and visit.

This is a strangely shaped bridge that connects Margaret's island to Buda and Pest.
While the bridge is not too beautiful, a walk on it provides a sweeping look of the city.

As with a lot of capital cities the Danube has its fair share of fine architectural bridges and the Margaret Bridge is no exception. Like all older bridges a lot of design and stone work has gone into it and whether you walk, drive or bus over it, or cruise under it, the bridge looks majestic from all angles.
