One of the best locations on the Danube in the Pest side looking over to Buda side. Easy walking distance to both sides of the river . One of the prettiest cities in Europe, a lot of restoration is happening still, The monuments and palace look great at night straight across the Danube.
All lit up like a fairy castle. A lot of good eating places near by, serving hungarian specialites at reasonable prices!

Every room has a nice view of Danube. Stayed in the corner unit - the best views of the river and the city. Very nice front desk personel. Walking distance to Vaca street - main tourist pedestrian street. When changing money - head to the cigty and check out a few things. Hotel offers a lovely "all-you-can-eat" desert bar with coffee and champagne for 10 euro - great value!

Room Tip: Ask for direct river view, closer to the castle - the view at night is great!

The Marriott was built on the banks of the Danube River in 1969 so, as you can imagine, the view was spectacular day and night. The Hotel is located in the city centre near the Budapest Parliament and Buda Castle (which you can see from each hotel room). The building isn’t the most attractive but that was the fashion in the late 60’s and it is nice to compare other Hotels along the River and you can pretty much date them by looking at each building and I find that fascinating. A riverboat cruise is highly recommended and there are various boats available. The bed was beautifully comfortable, mini bar expensive, breakfast fabulous and yes, no WI-FI in the room - pretty standard for the Marriott. I suppose no WI-FI may be annoying for guests who are away on business but I really don’t want to have WI-FI constantly available during my holiday. I love to be able to switch off from “normal life”. There is free WI-FI in the Lobby and there is no need to use a password, you are automated logged on for 3 hours at a time. The Lobby had comfortable chairs and sofas, so if you want to check emails, etc this is ideal. We walked for miles and enjoyed the sights but public transport is easy to use if required. We like adventure and loathe to use taxis so when we arrived we caught the 200E bus from the airport and then changed to the metro blue line and arrived at the Hotel within the hour, at a cost of around £2.50 each! We stayed for 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would definitely recommend this Hotel. PS – my partner is an ex-military man and highly recommends the Military Museum near the Hilton Hotel.

The Budapest Marriott offers a perfect location with some wonderful amenities at an affordable price. Our room - and, I believe, all rooms - faced the Danube River, with a spectacular view of the river and Castle Hill on the Buda side. We never got tired of looking out our window. Since we chose a higher-quality room, we also had access to free breakfast (and afternoon snacks and wine) on the ninth-floor terrace, with an even better view than the one from our room.

The boardwalk along the river can be a little crowded with tourists and people selling river cruises (as well as the cruise boats themselves), but it has not become too overcrowded and tacky yet, so the location is still great. The Marriott is an easy walk to sights on the Pest side and a longer but manageable walk to the Buda side.

Staff were friendly - though with a certain reserve that seems characteristic of the people of Budapest. The various concierges helped with restaurant reservations and advice on activities and directions. All spoke excellent English.

Overall, the Marriott offers a great choice to get the views and location of the pricier hotels nearby, without breaking the budget.

The location is perfect for a visit to Budapest; most rooms overlook the Danube and Castle Hill on Buda side, tram #2 stops right in front of hotel, sightseeing boats docked right in front of hotel(don't miss night cruise to see lights on bridges and monuments), easy walk to shopping and restaurants. The concierge desk was very helpful with reservations, etc. Check-in/out quite easy. Room had ample space and bathroom clean & bright. Hotel elevators were very efficient. Restaurant was excellent; we had a breakfast buffet with omlette station each morning and had a wonderful evening meal(try the Paprika Chicken....it's wonderful) the day we arrived and didn't feel much like heading out somewhere. There is even a '7-11' type mini-mart about 150 steps outside the front door of the hotel if you need an item or two. I would recommend the Cake Buffet they serve each day from Noon - 4:00pm, it's approx. $10 and all the pastries you could want with your Champagne and coffee/tea.

This hotel was overlooking the Danube River and the lights of the castles overlooking the river at night were spectacular. The rooms were well appointed and the bed was one of the best we have slept on. Breakfast was included and a pleasant surprise compared to other European breakfasts. Eggs cooked to order and everything fresh. It is a shame that there isn't free wireless internet in the building especially rooms, we felt that let the experience down.

We stayed at this hotel after we finished our cruise on the Danube. The hotel is in a perfect location in Budapest; an easy walk everywhere and plenty of transportation options available if needed. All rooms look out over the river and we found our room to be very nice. Only negative I have is that the towels were a bit worn; I expect better towels when I stay at a Marriott.

Room Tip: Go for the concierge level. Rooms on upper floors and the lounge is great. Breakfast, snacks durin...
