Great location, great views of the river, great terrace to relax on - all this has been said by previous reviewers. But for a chain hotel, the food was also excellent. Because our flight was delayed we had to cancel the dinner arrangements we had made in advance, and decided to eat in the hotel. It was a very good decision as dinner was excellent and far better than in the restaurant the concierge recommended the next night. Breakfasts were also great. The room was spacious and comfortable and amenities first class. The staff were helpful and this was a great base to explore Budapest.

Wow, what a great hotel!

I stayed here for one night on a recent business trip and I have already booked two more nights here for a personal trip to Budapest next week.

The rooms, cleanliness, service, etc. are all exactly what you expect from Marriott; good & reliable as always. But, for this hotel, it is all about location. The hotel sits right on the river and all the rooms have excellent views of the Danube and the city (even the view from worst room, it looks to be pretty good). For sight-seeing and shopping, it is just fantastic. It is an easy walk to many popular sights and shopping areas in the city and the subway is not too far way. In the evening, you can take a nice stroll along the river or enjoy and nice dinner at one of the cafes there. For comfortable weekend stay, you can not beat it.

My only complaint (very minor) was one staff member at the front desk. He wasn't rude when I was checking in, but he didn't seem very enthusiastic either. I realize that hotel staff probably don't like any of the guests (especially us annoying business travelers), I wouldn't. But, I do expect for them to at least show an effort to fake it and this guy didn't make that effort. I had some questions about my Marriott rewards account that I asked him off-hand. I know he is probably not the right guy to answer them, but I though I would ask anyway. Instead of apologizing that he didn't know and instructing me to contact Rewards customer service, he simply just said he "doesn't know much about that" and moved on with what he was doing (all without ever making eye contact). It is a minor thing, but I have come to expect a little more from Marriott. Everyone else on the staff though, was pleasant and helpful as usual.

Again though, this a great hotel and I highly recommend it. I will (and have already) book again.

The views of the river are breathtaking. It's a great location with easy access to explore the city. The staff are helpful and the balcony bar is a great spot to relax for a drink with friends.

The rooms are spacious and clean, and feature all the basics that you need. There is a good breakfast on offer. One of the main detractions was that there was no wireless internet access in the room.

overall a fantastic experience, upgraded to the executive room on arrival and found the room was fantastic with views across the historical part of the city. The Executive Lounge on the 9th floor had well designed inside and outside areas with good food and alcohol (in the evening) and soft drinks, tea and coffee throughout the day. Breakfast and meals in the restaurant were very tasty indeed - would recommend and stay again!

We were so lucky....

We turned up, tired, at 8pm and were offered a great deal on a Junior Suite on the top (10th) floor with the Executive Lounge option. Ok, so it was still expensive but, boy, was it worth it!

The bed was simply the widest, softest, most comfortable, luxurious bed I have ever slept on. Bliss. Add in a view over the Danube to die for, free drinks in the Exec Lounge, a fabulous breakfast with those views again and friendly, helpful, courteous staff. Nothing was too much trouble.

The location is great and we were able to wander straight out into the heart of lively Budapest and enjoy the nightlife before strolling back along the Danube.

If I had any tiny quibbles it would be that the bathroom seemed a bit dull - a plastic curtain round the bath etc. Not quite up to the palatial standards of the rest of the suite - as if they had refurbished the whole bedroom and corridors and ignored the bathrooms. Certainly adequate though.

And watch your parking! We asked the receptionist if we could park in the spaces outside the hotel front to which he smiled and replied "But of course". Only to find a 25 euro parking ticket fixed to the windscreen in the morning. Hmmmm. The hotel were kind enough to deal with it but said that a parking space would cost 24 euros with them anyway. So clarify in advance before you park to avoid unexpected surprises!

The best things about this hotel are the location, and the views. The rooms are good but we would have liked tea/coffee making facilities in the room. It was very hot weather during our stay and the air conditioning didn't seem to get cool enough for us. There is no swimming pool or sunbathing area if you want to do this between all the sightseeing. We did not try the restaurant as there are lots of nearby restaurants with more atmosphere. However, the location is ideal and we couldn't fault the staff, the service, and the cleanliness.
