“Fabulous, Central Hotel”
Reviewed 26 May 2014

This lovely little hotel is centrally located but in a quiet side street. We were told that the hotel was a 5 minute walk from the Chain Bridge.....in fact, it is a 2 min stroll! Fantastic! The walk to the funicular is also 2 mins and that will whisk you up to the Royal Palace with amazing views and the hotel is about a 10 min walk from the Fisherman's Bastion. Rooms are basic but clean and had tea/coffee making facilities. Breakfast was continental buffet style with lots of choice. A good, central hotel

We stayed here for 3 nights from the 14th May. We were looking for ages for a good hotel in Budapest and we decided to book this hotel. We are glad we did. The hotel is in an excellent location. The castle is about a 5 to 10 minute walk up hill from the hotel and a few minutes walk to the hop on hop off bus which will take you on a city tour and you can use as transport which we did. Also chain bridge is a couple minutes walk to get you to the pest side. We went to the zoo which is the otherside of pest and walked from our hotel it took around an hour and is a very nice walk! The hotel is clean, modern, good choice of continental breakfast. We will certainly be returning to Budapest as my partner proposed at the castle :) and we will certainly stay at the Carlton Hotel again.

Hotel was very clean and had everything we needed. Reception staff were efficient and informative. A nice touch is the provision of computers with free internet access and free printing. Rooms were good, beds comfy, bathroom good, free wi fi.
Breakfast was good, but not as much choice as other places I've stayed (not in Budapest).
Drinks in the bar were a decent price.
The best part of staying here is how close you are to the transport routes and walking distance to major attractions. The Parliament building just across the river, chain bridge just round the corner.
Go by taxi from the airport (about 8,500 HUF, £23, E28)

We travelled to Budapest in Feb 2012' this was our first time in Hungary. We had booked the Carlton hotel from looking at reviews online, we were not disappointed. The hotel is situated at the foot of the hill on the Buda side of the river with the Fisherman's bastion and castle looking over it. The river and chain bridge are a short walk away as are many good bars and restaurants.
The hotel itself was very clean and provided a good choice at breakfast. The staff were friendly and knowledgable.
We enjoyed our stay so much that when we decided we would return to Budapest we had no hesitation in booking the Carlton again. We are going in July 14, and a re really looking forward to it.
