All the modern amenities in the center of a historic district. We stayed in a Danube view room and had access to the executive lounge. The lounge has free wifi, but the rooms don't.. They serve full breakfast in the morning, snacks during the day, and heavy hors d'ouvres with beer and wine in the evening. There's a dedicated concierge in the lounge as well.

Room Tip: Danube view room looks out over the Fishermen's Bastion and the Parliament..

The location can not be beat- built into the castle with stunning views. We booked a double queen executive room, and were very happy with the room. As a Hilton honors diamond member, check-in was in the executive lounge instead of in the lobby. We arrived mid-morning, around 10 am, and were told the only room available did not face the castle, but it was out choice if we wanted to check-in early or wait for another room. We chose to check in early and the view from the executive lounge made up for it. I can not say enough about the staff working the executive lounge, and they would be reason enough to return to the hotel. Taking the time to talk to each guest, as well as helping with suggestion of what to do around the city,The selection of wine, beer, and different food throughout the day is excellent. We chose to eat breakfast at the restaurant both mornings, instead of in the lounge. Having a much wider selection downstairs we were happy to have the option. The room was very large for European standards, and was very comfortable even with 4 of us in the room. The only hotel we would return to in Budapest.

Room Tip: Executive lounge

I spent around 2 months in this hotel. if you like the historical part of Budapest you just need to go out from the hotel and everything is there. The personal is very friendly and helpful. I can recommend this hotel to everybody.

I’ve read the reviews of TripAdvisor that rate this Hilton very highly. On the other hand, the people I traveled with grumbled about this Hilton.

Oh yes, the rooms are clean, large enough and have a Western European feel that may make many West European and America travelers feel like they’re home.

But, do we really travel so we can feel like we’re at home?

This Hilton is high on a hill on the opposite side of the Danube where most of the life and activity in Budapest are. That means if you go into the city to see most of the sites, the market, the local restaurants, etc., you have to take a bus, a taxi, or a cab. The ride is annoying because the hill is steep and the road has several switchbacks. Once or twice is fine; do it several times and you wish you stayed on the city (Pest) side of the river.

The Budapest Hilton hit us with their unpopular Internet policy. Maybe this is something that shouldn't rise to the level of decreasing the rating of this hotel but it doesn't seem that some other luxury hotels charge for the Internet. We all have voice mail, get our emails and may want to check out a restaurant via the Internet. So, why does the Budapest Hilton charge for that? Reminds me of the days when hotels charged for color TV. Worse yet, they charge “per device” which means if a family member wants access, they can’t do it while you are online.
Worse again, if you do not log off and simply turn your device off, a second device cannot have access.

If you think the workaround is to use the business center, well think again. They charge for that as well. It’s archaic. The travelers I was with would rather pay a higher room rate than get “nickel and dimed” with this Internet policy. There are other luxury hotels that are in better locations that include Internet service.

Room Tip: The hotel is huge. Rooms facing the Parliament building may require a long walk from the elevator.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. While the interior is not majestic or unique, the view makes the hotel wonderful. I fell in love with Budapest and was very glad to stay on the Buda side. It felt magical.

Room Tip: Ask for a river view.
