“Good service, lovely surrondings”
Reviewed 30 November 2012

Stayed here for 3 nights, 4 days. Great service in the hotel. Breakfast was nice, good selections and you can ask them to make soemthing that isnt avaiable there.
The area is lovely, great views, especially at night. However to beware that at night it is like a ghost town! However is a nice location, plenty of restuarants around. Also easy access into Pest. Just cross the road to the bus stop, and get bus 16 and get off at the last stop in Pest (opposite the Le Merriden Hotel).
Reception staff very helpful on places to go and how to get there.
(no free wifi though :-( )

Lovely place to visit!

I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. The rooms are large and comfortable, the staff is friendly and efficient, and the view from the hotel is the most beautiful I have ever seen, overlooking beautiful turrets and walls and the entire city's beautiful skyline to the Danube. The cost is most reasonable, especially for the excellent facilities and incomparable view. I will urge all of my friends to experience Budapest from this beautiful and convenient location, and definitely will make it my home away from home on any trip to Budapest.

Room Tip: I didn't use either the pool or any kids' activities, so can't rate those, but everythin...

We had a wonderful experience at the Hilton-Budapest. First it is an awesome setting in the castle district with stunning views of the Fisherman's Bastion, the Danube and the Parliment building in Pest. Hotel service from check in to check out was great. Nice staff and services in the bar and dining room. The buffet breakfast offered many choices and the view continued to awe us from there. So much history to see within walking distance from the hotel and walking further to shopping areas not a problem. Great resaurants and cafes within a stone's throw of the hotel. We look forward to a return trip.

Room Tip: Ask for 'a room with a view'.

Myself and 2 friends stayed here for a long weekend. We got a great deal for bed a breakfast for 3 nights. The staff were very polite and extremely helpful. The room was spacious and clean. There was a very good selection at breakfast. The location of the hotel is excellent for exploring the castle district and there a some lovely restaurants nearby. You can catch a local bus or the hop on hop off bus from a short walk away and there is a metro station at the bottom of the hill. The views over the river Danube are amazing especially at night.

Also book wine tasting in the Faust wine cellar ( entrance is in the Hilton hotel itself) it was a great way to start our trip.

Definitely worth paying the extra for the view, and what a view, really comes into its own at night!
Rooms well appointed, executive lounge comfortable and plenty of choice of snacks and drinks. We had our breakfast in main restaurant, plenty of choice and eggs cooked to order. All staff pleasant and willing to help. Thoroughly recommend. Beautiful walk down the castle grounds to get to Pest, takes about 30 minutes with leisurely stroll across chain bridge, and then ride the funicular back up for 900 florints each, great view of city!

Room Tip: Book a Danube view, well worth.

This hotel has the best view of the Danube River from the high Buda side. Public buses stop out front and are easy to use. Breakfast to order or the buffet was the best in Europe. View from the dining room was again spectacular over the Danube. Has a wine cellar that dates back centuries. Thermal Spas are nearby on the same side of the river.

Room Tip: Get a river side room.

Hotel is very nice, with good breakfast and good executive lounge. On a bad weather days, like we had in end of October, it is quite far from the city. Taxi system in Budapest is unbelieveably caotic = there are a lot of half-unofficial taxis, which rob you, if u step into them. Bus works fine to the city center of Pest.

Room Tip: Take an executive room, it is worth it, lounge is excellent.

Dear Guest,

At first, thank you very much for your recent stay and also for sending your high recommendation of our Executive Lounge services.

Second thing, at least as important. To avoid getting ripped off by taxi drivers and having a bad experience right after you step off your flight, please read our advice:

Getting around Budapest by public transportation is easy and convenient and you may never need to use a taxi. Taking a taxi is a good idea when you are traveling with a lot of luggage, it is freezing cold, you need to get to a distant part of budapest or you need to travel at night.

Unfortunately for Budapest, its taxi drivers have become a scar on its reputation for overcharging and dishonesty. There are fortunately a number of reputable Budapest taxi companies that you can rely on for good service and fair rates.

Here are some tips that might save you headaches and a few thousand Forints:
• Don't get into a taxi that is parked in front of the train station or at a tourist site. These are often waiting for unsuspecting tourists and are known to charge rates several times higher.

• If you need to catch a taxi on the street, make sure it is a real, registered taxi. The yellow roof lamp must be permanently installed and must say TAXI in black letters on both sides. The driver's name, license number and rates should be printed on front .

• Try to find out beforehand how much your ride should cost. If you're stopping a taxi on the street, you can ask the driver before getting in and even pay in advance if the amount sounds reasonable. If you're ordering a taxi by phone, which is always a good idea, you can get a price estimate or even the exact fare from the dispatcher.

• Once in the car, make sure that the rate on the taximeter corresponds to the price list posted in the car. If it doesn't, bring it to the driver's attention or have him stop the car, so you can get off.

• The driver should offer a printed receipt. If he doesn't, you have the right to request one or refuse to pay the fare.

• We recommend you to travel smart and order a taxi by phone from one of these reliable and courteous taxi companies: MB ELITE (this is the taxi company our hotel works together, reliable, English speaking drivers, Merecedes Benz cars, clean and confortable), City Taxi and Főtaxi are also most reliable companies.

I hope it helps and we may look forward to welcoming you back to our hotel in the future and make your stay unforgettable.
