“Brilliant, can't fault this hotel”
Reviewed 17 February 2014 via mobile

This was our first trip to Budapest and Hungary and it certainly won't be our last. From the moment we arrived at The Hilton we found everybody friendly and helpful - especially Tibor in the Executive Lounge who gives 110% to make guests feel welcome.
I can't really think of anything negative to say. We found our room to be spacious, clean and comfortable, the maid service is efficient and unobtrusive and breakfast as good as almost anywhere we've stayed.
The location of the hotel is also excellent, in a quiet, classy area, surrounded by restaurants and with panoramic views over the city.
We'll be back.

This hotel is in a great location in buda. Its out of the hustle and bustle of pest in a beautiful area right next to the fisherman's bastion.
The staff treat you like royalty, service is impeccable. The breakfast buffet option was plentiful and of lovely quality.
I would love to thank the guest relations manager who kindly offered us an upgrade to a room with a Danube view. The room was possibly the best we have ever stayed in. The views took your breath away (see pics).
All in all the hilton hotel gets 10/10 from us. We would stay no-where else in Budapest. Thank you!!!!

I suspect I would not have found a hotel I was happier to stay in in Budapest. The (Buda) Castle area is lovely and quiet at night, but within easy reach of the livelier "Pest" part of Budapest. That said, from the frontage, the hotel looks like a beautiful classical building, but that is only a facade. Apparently 80% of Budapest was destroyed in the second world war, resulting in lots of buildings being as this one, a lovely historical facade with a modern building behind. We were upgraded to an executive room and, to be honest, it was slightly disappointing to find typical modern slightly dated box bedrooms rather than old classical rooms. I also suspect that the bedrooms themselves would not rate as 5 star in the UK. The bathroom on the other hand was excellent - a lovely large room with separate shower and bath. I note that one person commented on "nibbles" to arrive to, We did not receive this - and were charged for the one bottle of water utilised (which was on the tray with the free tea and coffee rather than in the fridge with the rest of the minibar), no problem, I guessed this may well be the case. We stayed in a room right next to the church. The bells go off quietly at 6.30 am and then loudly at 7.00 am. (The church is well worth a visit). There are also works going on all around the castle district at the moment, so drilling started at 8 am prompt. (The bells were lovely - as early risers we quite liked this aspect -and were ready for breakfast by the time the drilling started!!). As many reviews state, the views from the hotel are fantastic, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is beautifully clean, and I thought the breakfast superb with lots of fresh rolls and pastries with various types of meat, smoked salmon and an "English breakfast" with variations of different types of sausages.

In winter, the "Hop on Hop off bus should be regarded as just a tour and a boat trip down the Danube. (It is not so frequent that you can also use it as transport around the city) .It was very interesting and worthwhile, however, there are only three buses running throughout the day, the last one being early afternoon. The bus winds its way around the tourist spots and waits in various places along the way. It is far better to use public transport, buying tickets in advance, for general commuting. We found the Airport Shuttle minibus very efficient, pleasant and cost effective for transfers to and from the airport.

Whilst staying, we went to see the National Opera (The Barber of Seville) which was absolutely fantastic - both for the quality of the opera and the beauty of the building. We ate in the Wine Kitchen - wonderful, and also in 21 in the castle district - also very good.

Room Tip: If you do not want to be woken at 6.30am ask for a room away from the Church!

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for submitting you valuable feedback on Tripadvisor.

I am very pleased to hear that your experience has exceeded your expectations, both in regards to the beautiful views from your guest room and our unique location in Buda Castle. As for the bells of the 700 hundred year old Church of Our Lady, better known as the Matthias Church, did you know that the historic bells are also of significant symbolic value to the Hungarians as they toll every day at noon to commemorate the victory of Christian Hungarian troops against the Ottoman invasion in 1456? Because of this it is part of the UNESCO world heritage, and the Church is considered one of the most important shrines for Catholic Hungarians.

All in all, we are very pleased that you have had such an excellent stay and I hope that
we may welcome you back to the Hilton Budapest soon.

Yours sincerely,

Fabulous location for this hotel in Budapest. I had the chance of getting a Danue view room and even by bad weather, the view what astonishing. The hotel is really a high class / High value location and amongst the best ones I ever stayed at.

Room Tip: Danube view is really worth it !

Have just returned home and this must be the best large hotel we have stayed in. We had a short break to Budapest and got upgraded to a Danube river view room. Spotless hotel, and staff could have not done more. Breakfast was excellent. Used the taxi service arranged by the concierge, no problems at all. Have stayed in many hotels (inc. Hiltons) around the world and I don't remember a better hotel. We would come back here without any hesitation. Tip - get the no 16 bus to the Pest centre, and make sure you buy the bus tickets in advance (from the local post office near hotel)

Stayed in the Hilton hotel castle district up graded to a Danube river view absolutely fabulous ,hotel in lovely location ,really nice breakfast .We used the airport shuttle they were very professional and helpful .Just a word of warning about the taxi fares one of the drivers tried to over charge us when I asked the price from the Pest side to our hotel he said the fare is charged by the meter but you could see him pressing the buttons on the meter as he was driving ,I refused to pay 4400 forints and ended up giving the driver 2500 forints which was about the right price .The big bus city tour is good value 7000 forints for 48 hours and includes a river cruise and a city tour at night.Budapest is a beautiful city and we'll worth a visit

Dear Guest,

I am very happy to read that you had a fabulous stay here with us at the Hilton Budapest.
Further to your comment on taxi fares, please be advised that all taxi companies are liable to use fixed prices. We recommend to take only yellow cabs when you are in Budapest. (From 1 September every taxi will have to be yellow and fixed priced according to Law.)
