I spent a romantic Valentin’s night at Hilton Budapest with my honey. The location of the hotel can’t be better, top of the Buda hill and faces to the river Danube and Pest side. The staff was very friendly and everybody was smiling. We got a wonderful room, I guess on the top floor, which was faces to the Fisherman’s Bastion and to the House of Parliament. The view was awesome!!!! We had a delicious dinner at the hotel restaurant, Icon. The foods and the service were excellent! Thank you for that night! Not at all, the hotel provides all the Hilton standards and high quality service. I can highly recommend this hotel to everyone!

We stayed at the Hilton Budapest for 3 nights. Our deal included breakfast, a Danube-view room and one candle-lit dinner in the hotel restaurant.

Everything was just perfect! The service was very gracious and friendly, the room was very spacious (compared to standard hotel rooms) and luxurious, very clean and tidy, and the highlight of course was the amazing Danube and castle view from the big window. At night you can also see the fully-lit Parliament House, which is a true spectacle. I've stayed in many hotels around the world - never have I enjoyed such a glorious view.

Breakfast buffet was standard, rich and satisfying.

With the candle-lit dinner I had my doubts at first, but was pleasantly surprised! It may have not been at a top gourmet restaurant level, but the food was very elegant and very tasty. service, again, was impeccable.

As for the location: yes, it is in the old castle district of Buda and not the bustling Pest, but if you only spend 2-3 days in the city like we did, you would want to explore the lovely Buda area as well anyway, so I don't see it as a disadvantage to be in this location rather than Pest. Especially when you have all the attractions very near by, as well as bus line number 16 which is very convenient to use (it passes every few minutes). Having said that, we've really enjoyed walking down the serpentine road to the Adam Clark square and crossing the Chain Bridge over to Pest on foot, which is a lovely walk, and taking the "Siklo" funicular back up to the Palace to save the steep climb.

I highly recommend this hotel for a romantic getaway - make sure you get the Danube-view room.

Extremely good hotel, but not in the city center. There are good restaurants very close to the hotel in Buda, but the main shops and attractions and on the other side of the river in Pest - this is a long walk down and a very steep hill up again. There are busses available. Plenty of taxis at the entrance. Rooms are a good size and quiet - try to get a room with a view on the river.

This Hotel is quite unique, for location, view and intrinsitc charm. Recommended for a large variety of travellers: romance, weekend escape, business.
I had a very fine, large room with "the" view to the Donau. Common areas are a wonderful exercise of old charm reinvention. Lights are also particularly fine.
Service was good in all compartments and I'm definitely considering this my first option in case of a trip back to Budapest.

Room Tip: Room with Donau view, no negotiation.

If you choose to go to this hotel then ensure you upgrade to a River Danube view room - it is worth the extra. Budapest was our last Eastern European country for us to visit & I booked this as a surprise for my husband for his Xmas present - arrived on 13/2 for 4 nights so that we were also there for valentines & my birthday. Room was large with super king bed, our view was absolutely fantastic, especially at night seeing everything lit up. Only problem was the air con being so noisy, we used to switch it off at night & open the window the little we could, at least it was not too cold to do that. Breakfast was very good, but staff did not inform us that fried, boiled & omelettes were available to order, we only seen the small sign on the table by chance towards the end of our first breakfast. We dined 2 nights in nearby restaurants, but our last evening was my birthday & we decided to eat in the hotels restaurant - what a shame we were the only people in there for most of the evening, but it meant we had absolutely fantastic service, even though there was a huge conference in the adjoining room. The food was excellent & would advise anyone staying to at least dine in the Icon restaurant once. The house wine was very good & an excellent price. They even brought out my desert with a candle & the pianist played happy birthday. Bar a little pricey, but ideal for a couple of drinks - cocktails worth the money tho'.
Just one small gripe - some reception area staff can be a little abrupt, customer service folks, I felt I was the one at fault for a mistake they made over my late check out sorted by email in advance with the hotel, good job I still had the email on my phone, but an apology would have been nice, not treated like I was not telling the truth & just asked for my room keys so they could be amended.
If you go to this hotel, make sure you use the public transport, only wish we had such fantastic public transport at home, the number 16 runs every 6 minutes which takes you to Pest & if you get the metro from Derec Ter to Heroes Square these run every 2.5 mins. It was also fantastic to see the boating lake in the main public park frozen over to make an ice rink - we could have watched all the locals for hours!!
