“A wonderful place to stay when visiting Budapest”
Reviewed 23 July 2014

We chose this Hilton over other hotels because of the location. The views of the Danube and Budapest (Pest side) are breathtaking especially at night when everything is lit up. Spring for the upgrade (not that much more money) with a view of the city. We were on the top floor (5) with Fisherman's Bastion directly in front of us with a full view of the city.
The hotel itself is typical Hilton quality and comfort with a boutique hotel feel to it. We did fnd the service lacking and below par especially in the bar and the majority of the people working in other areas weren't very friendly except the female breakfast servers in the morning. The buffet breakfast is way over priced and I highly recommend ordering off the menu instead (especially make your own omlette).
Hidden away in the hotel is an artifact museum that the city and Hilton constructed together. It's amazing and I found it by chance. It really isn't pointed out by the hotel and you'll find it off the bar. It leads to a wine cellar. Be sure to see it!
It's quaint on the Buda side (Hilton location) with a fair number of shops and restaurants BUT this is totally a tourist side and expect to pay more than on the city (Pest) side where there's a lot of competition.
Unless you're accustomed to walking a great deal down hills and up a fairly steep incline, you'll need a cab that should run about $12 U.S. each way to get to the Pest side where the city is really located. (Make sure the hotel calls a cab and even then you have to ask how much it will cost to get to your destination. Only take an authorized yellow cab and never hail a cab).
I woud stay at the Hilton Castle District again because of the incredible views plus it's extremely quiet at night (when all the tour buses are gone from Fisherman's Bastion). Walk the Buda side at night or early morning when almost all the tourists are gone except you!

Room Tip: Ask for the 5th (top floor) with a center room facing the Danube. Also, ask to see the room first i...

Dear Guest,

We are so glad to have welcomed you and to hear that our splendid location in Buda Castle area and the gorgeous ambiance of the medieval historic part of the hotel building left such an unforgettable impression.
That said, we will also discuss your constructive feedback regarding the attentivness of some of our team to ensure this is not repeated. iI am certain that our team looks for opportunities to go above and beyond, including Bar requests, and we encourage you to reach out while staying with us if there is anything we can make do to make your visit more comfortable.

Next time we recommend to take bus Nr 16 (stop almost in front of the hotel), it is quick trip to downtown (Pest side) for less then 2 USD.

We would love and hope to welcome you back soon and make your next stay even more special!

Best regards,

Zoltán Árvai

From the moment we walked through the door we knew we chose the right hotel. From the magnificent views of the Danube River to the gardens of the old monastery the Hilton brings the old and the new together. You feel welcome by an exceptional staff who is there for you 24/7. Any thing you need from directions to tour guides and restaurants, this staff is happy to accommodate you. Any their suggestions are always good. They know their city and they are more than happy to share it with you.

Over the past fifty years of traveling I have stayed at hundreds of hotels. The Budapest Hilton Castle District ranks amongst the very best. We had a room on the third floor overlooking the Danube, Parliament and the Fisherman's Bastion. We enjoyed every minute from our greeting at reception to checking out.. If you visit this hotel make sure you ask for a room overlooking the Danube.

Room Tip: Please ask for a Danube view. Room 309 was fabulous!

My wife and I have just returned from a five day break at the Hilton Budapest. It was our fist visit, and it won't be our last. The hotel is a fantastic building. How they managed to get that site is a story in itself.
We were there to celebrate my wife's birthday, which was made even more special by the treatment and treats from Hilton. We ate in the Icon Restaurant. Great food with fantastic views.
We have to give a special mention for Tibor in the executive lounge. He really went out of his way to be helpful every time we saw him. Nothing was too much trouble. Having said that, the manager should be proud of all of his friendly helpful staff.

Room Tip: Ask for a Danube view if possible.

The facilities are excellent but the view is stunning. Very well situated in an attractive area. We ate dinner in the restaurant one evening and were very pleased with the food and service. The Buda part of the city is quiet and peaceful.

Room Tip: Choose a room with Danube view. The view is stunning

Hilton Budapest Caste district is the best Hilton me and my wife have had the privilege to stay. The standard of service at breakfast was amazing, ask for anything and it was no trouble at all. The hotel stands on a hill next door to a beautiful church, with amazing views overlooking the city. Its a must.
