Planning a vacation is time consuming and you want it to be what you’ve always dreamed about. The Hilton Budapest on Castle Hill fulfilled that for us with what appeared to be no effort for them. Every staff member was knowledgeable, pleasant, and professional—and their English impeccable. For the first time, we were upgraded--to a corner suite on the fifth floor with a view to live for – four large picture windows looking over the Danube River and St. Mathias Church. We certainly did not want to leave—especially when the lights came on all the buildings and bridges each night below us. We were treated to beautiful sunrises and a gorgeous full moon on November 4th all from the comfort of the huge room with comfy sofas and dreamy bed. The bathroom was fabulous and included a shower you could wash a Mini in! Great restaurants were a stroll or quick cab ride away. Three nights were not enough, but just enough to want to return!!

Room Tip: Always do the Danube river view

Lovely hotel as you would expect from a company like Hilton , after reading reviews we thought this was the best location in Budapest , unfortunately this really isn't true- it's in a really great picturesque location but way away from The Buzzing city that is Budapest. You live & learn.
A must do are the incredible wine caves inside The hotel.

The hotel is of a high standard, and located in the peaceful and atmospheric Castle District of Buda. Our room was well-appointed and comfortable, but the best thing about it was the view of the Danube, which was fantastic.
The hotel itself is built into the remains of a convent, so it has a historical feel to it although most of it is modern.
There were a few minus points. As some other reviewers have pointed out, the walls are very thin, and you can hear quite clearly what is happening in neighbouring rooms, including people having intimate moment (hem hem).
The other odd thing was that in spite of our informing the manager, the dirty cups were not cleared from the room, and the cleaning was on the careless side - I noticed odd bits of rubbish where the floor was not thoroughly vacuumed.
Nonetheless I would recommend the hotel as a good base for exploration, as I am sure its drawbacks will eventually be addressed by management.

Room Tip: Upgrade to Danube view - you won't regret it.

On my recent trip, I was given a room with a great view of the Fisherman's Bastion and the Parliament building. The room was comfortable, although I would have like to have seen a variety of pillow thicknesses on the bed.

Breakfast, which was included in the rate, was first-class, and the Hilton gets high marks for varying the choices from day to day. Service in the restaurant was very good, with the servers wearing white gloves for extra class.

There is some sort of renovation going on in the hotel, which meant that the main elevator is not in service and it was a bit of a walk to some of the rooms, but this is temporary and minor.

While the Castle District where the hotel is located is nice, most of the action is across the river on the Pest side. It is actually pretty quick - around 15 mins - by 16 bus to get across the river, and the bus runs frequently. If you are in Budapest for a number of days and staying at the Hilton I would recommend buying a transportation pass.

In summary, the hotel is great, but I would weigh the convenience of staying on the Pest side against the advantages that the hotel has to offer.

Best location in Budapest. Beautiful views, good restaurants around. Good and friendly service. Always use this hotel for my business trips to Budapest and I would recommend it to everybody. Also would like to spend some time here with my wife to show her around in Budapest.
