This was our first trip to Budapest and we were not disappointed. The accommodation was clean and comfortable and the friendly staff could not have been more helpful. it is well situated to visit attractions on both sides of the river. One small niggle was that the windows in the bedrooms didn't seem to open so it was a bit hotter than ideal but id din't detract from a very pleasant few days and I would recommend it to others. The small restaurant downstairs provided a reasonable quality continental style breakfast to start the day.

My partner and I stayed at the Best Western for five nights in February. When we arrived the receptionist was incredibly friendly and even ordered take out pizza for us, as it was too late to go out. The room was a lovely size, very clean and warm. I always like the fact that a hotel has coffee making facilities in the room, as I need my coffee! There was also a TV, but we didn't use that as there were no English channels. The shower was good also, kept nice and warm with good pressure. Our only problem with the room was the fact that we were next to a church which kept ringing its bells, so avoid the back if you are a light sleeper.... but it didn't cause too much bother. The main sites of Budapest are across the bridge, which is about a ten minute walk away, so the location is very convenient. The hotel is on the right side of the bridge for the Castle district, and there are a couple of restaurants nearby if you don't want to walk far. All in all, this was a great place to stay.

Best Western Hotel Orion is very conveniently located between Szechenyi lanchid and Erzsebet hid a bit lower Buda Castle. The hotel staff are very polite and hospitable. The room was on the 2nd floor. Windows were faced to a small quiet street, so there is no noise from the street. It was warm in the room due to heating by air conditioning, though the temperature was minus2C in the city. The room was very clean and was attended by all the amenities. The room had a bath instead of a shower cabin and a hairdryer. There was also an electric kettle with tea, coffee and sugar. During our stay at the hotel we used electric sauna, which is located on the 3rd floor. All major attractions of of Buda and Pest are within walking distance from the hotel.

Previous reviewers have found things to complain about with this hotel, but for value for money I thought it was fine. The room was warm and clean, with tea and coffee making things and a fridge. The beds looked as though they might be a bit hard, but were in fact very comfortable. The bathroom, though small was also very clean and warm and had a decent hairdryer in it. There is also a lift, The hotel does offer breakfast, but there is no bar. The only criticism I would have, and it is very minor, is that the hangers are wider than the wardrobe, so when I closed the door, the hangers sometimes fell off!
As for location, it is in very easy walking distance to the Gellert Baths and the Castle area, but places to eat and drink are mainly across the river. It took us about 20 minutes to walk over and find plenty of places to eat. So all in all, if you are looking for a good, clean base and don't mind walking a bit, or are happy to use the trams, then I would be happy to recommend it.

The hotel is in a very good location, having public transport drop you off (and pick you up) nearby and being a really good location. The staff was friendly and helpful, and you get free tea and coffee that you can make yourself in the room.

My main issue with this hotel was that it was cold in the rooms. The air-conditioning wasn't working as it should (was just blowing air, not heating it up), so the room was cold. The coldness of the room also affected the sleep quality of the hotel.

The breakfast buffet was a little bit lacking variety, but you could ask the chef to make you, for instance, bacon and eggs which is nice, but still does not compensate the lack of food variety that i had in other hotels.

Room Tip: Room 26 does not have a spectacular view, it only looks at the small church courtyard.
