We loved staying at this hotel as it was walking distance to the Chain Bridge and Castle Hill incline. As we only had 2 1/2 days, the staff helped us tremendously with their suggestions and booking the rivercruise, Legenda, for us. We ate at Sailor Inn, 2 blocks away, which was excellent and bountiful portions. The breakfast at Hotel Victoria was plentiful with eggs and omelets to order with a buffet of fruits, and breads. We had a huge corner room overlooking the Danube. The bathroom was modern..all was clean. Loved our stay. The staff held our bags until the evening as we had an overnight train to Krakow.

It was our 15th stay in Hotel Victoria; we come back here many times every year!
We are always very satisfied with this hotel its staff and services. This is why we don’t understand the last two tripadvisor comments and their “problems”…
The view is unbeatable especially in the night.
The rooms are absolutely clear and large with huge comfortable beds.
The breakfast is delicious with hot fresh made dishes to order.
Very friendly and professional staff, always ready to help.

Victoria is a small familiar hotel with no huge areas so it can happen that you have to wait 10 minutes for an available breakfast table, but only in the busiest period of breakfast time.
Recommendation: try to avoid the last 15 minutes of breakfast time.

We highly recommend Hotel Victoria for everybody and we will always return!

Who cares whether this is 3 star or four star? This is a wonderful place to stay. Read the reviews and understand that this is a small hotel in a great location. The staff were all extremely polite, friendly and helpful. Do your homework and choose this hotel for the location and the view from the room. And it's nice not to be charged a fiver for a coke out the fridge! So the windows don't open - we found that a comforting safety feature given the height of the room above the pavement. Don't know what the other rooms were like but we paid a smidge extra for a premium room and were very comfortable on the eigth floor enjoying the view of the danube and Parliament at night. Did I mention the view....?

I am a frequent visitor to the city, having been born there. The Victoria was our Canadian friends' choice and was a disappointment.

There were three positive points:
the view
the size of the room (number 12)
the freshly made scrambled eggs for breakfast

On the negative side:
Public areas were cramped: two armchairs squeezed into the reception area and two bar stools in the breakfast room; the breakfast tables very close together and not enough of them (we had to have coffee at the bar next door while a table became available one morning); the breakfast buffet was cramped with tinned fruit and cold meats and cheses exposed to sun from the window; the photos on the website of all these areas are very misleading.

Although the staff were cheerful and friendly, the service was amateurish at best: nearly all enquiries were met by accessing the web, or advising the use of taxis (even for Hungarian speakers) in a city extremely well served with public transport.

In addition:
uncomfortable bed and pillows
tiny, dark shower room
no tea/coffee in the room
no toiletries
a single container fixed to the wall of shower and above the basin for hand, body and hair wash
used sachet of shoe-cloth not replaced
water in shower tepid

Overall, I resent having paid 40% more for this hotel than for a room in central Budapest in a more professionally run hotel.
Hotel in general felt extremely cramped

In my view this was a 3* place and in no way a 4*
Positive points:
View from the room
Walking distance to public transport

Negative points (a long list)
Ordinary breakfast
small and weary rooms
Uncomfortable bed and pillows
extremely tiny bathroom
No tea/coffee in the room
No toiletries
Hotel in general felt extremely tiny
The pics of the hotel on various website is not at all how the actual rooms are.
Though we were booked for free parking, what this actually meant that we could park on the street outside the hotel for free and the receptionist was quite pushy that we should actually pay 13£ a night to park in the garage as it wasn't safe on the street outside. (felt a bit cheated for this)

Originally I wanted to stay somewhere that looked a little prettier shall we say over the river in Pest but my husband found Hotel Victoria and I wasn't disappointed.

The staff were really welcoming and it's situated at the foothills of Buda castle in a quiet location. The entrance is small and the dining room adequate, the room was fairly standard but clean and had everythiing we needed - plus a wonderful view of the Danube and their houses of parliament opposite.

Breakfast was very good with warm options and they made a sublime mushroom omlette to order - set us up for a day of exploring!

Over the bridge you're soon into the busy town but it's a bit of a walk to go back at night so after long days of walking we opted to go a few doors down to the Belgium bar and had a delicious meal and a variety of beer.

You could pay more if you want all the trimmings but this hotel ticks all the boxes for me.
