“Beautiful views and helpful staff”
Reviewed 22 June 2014 via mobile

We just got back home and had to write a review about this hotel. It is on the Buda side and has beautiful views of the Parliament and the Pest side. We were traveling with our son and had a triple room, which was large and very comfortable. Breakfast was good, they even had omelette and scrambled eggs (more than the usual Continental breakfast). Staff was very helpful with directions around Budapest. We took the subway a lot (which was relatively close). However, a word of warning on those subways -they can be dangerous - my son tripped on an escalator and was able to get his foot out of his Crocs before the escalator literally ate his Croc. Worse was that the escalator never stopped someone did come out that worked there but they spoke no English. Very scary to say the least. He lost his shoe but it could of been a lot worse. So while the escalator incident at the subway had nothing to do with the great service we received at this hotel I just wanted to get the word out to be careful.

Although unimposing from the outside, from the moment you step inside you are made to feel welcome thanks to the friendly, efficient and very helpful front office receptionist. Sorry I do not know her name.
We arrived early and with no fuss she organised a room for us as soon as one became available. Although on the first floor (which people generally don't want) the views were stunning, the room quiet, beautifully appointed and very very comfortable.
Breakfast was delicious with a generous selection, including a full cooked breakfast, catering for all tastes.
The free afternoon tea is a must attend as it provides an opportunity to see some of the original house, now beautifully restored. The front section was destroyed in the war.
Restaurants are numerous in the surrounding streets so take your pick.
The hotel is almost opposite the Parliament building, close to the chain bridge and the funicular leading to the castle area. Trams run frequently from just outside the door. If you are over 65 and have an EU passport you can travel free. But you must carry your passport & show it if asked.
Would highly recommend.

Room Tip: A corner room offers the best views and don't be hung up on just the high floors.

We arrived on the overnight train from Krakow and were a little jaded. When we arrived at the hotel we thought we had the wrong hotel. From the outside it does not look appealing and the lobby is almost non existent it is so small. We were advised our room would not be ready til noon which was perfectly reasonable.
We were given a wonderful room with great views. The receptionist we had for a couple of days, Violetta (?) could not have been more helpful. She gave excellent advise. Breakfast was superb and the lady running the dining room was always very cheerful and helpful. Regarding eating out, we liked Carne, about 100 metres to the left of the hotel....we liked one, recommended by the night porter, in the hill above the hotel which is an easy walk called 21..very much enjoyed that..but the one the hotel recommends, about 500 metres away, with music was a little disappointing..probably peaked in the 70s, service slow and only other people was a table of 4 Americans and another of two Brits.
Afternoon teas is served free from 4 to 5pm..I went down at 5.15pm and was charged 2 euros for two cups of tesa..slightly irritated but did nothing to take away from our enjoyment of the hotel.
If you are obver 60 (?) and have a European passport all travel on busues and trams, and to the airport, is free!

Room Tip: all rooms face the Danube

The view from our room of the Danube and Parliment building wad unexcelled. It was breathtaking and almost made us want to stay in the room. The place was clean and well laid out. The most comfortable beds we had in Europe. The staff were most helpful, scheduling tours for us and giving great recommendations. I would recommend this place to anyone. It is worth a trip to Budapest for the hotel

Room Tip: We had room 83 but similar views on other floors

We booked this hotel based on Tripadvisor ratings and reviews. Access by car is reasonably easy but could present a challenge if the area for cars in front of the hotels is full. If arranged before, the car can be kept in the hotel garage (quite small). Access to the car is available at all times. Service is good, some of the staff better than others - on the whole very good. We found the staff helpful when asking directions or any other tourist related questions. The view from the room is stunning - the river and all the buildings along it are just there in front of you. The room itself (we had a corner room) is spacious and clean. The bed arrangement were 2 beds placed together - not ideal but quite acceptable. The hotel is located just outside a tram stop that can take you to the metro and the rest of Budapest. The hotel is also located just underneath Buda castle - easy enough to walk up the hill if you are so inclined. Breakfast was very good - many options to choose from - including freshly made fried eggs etc. Based on what we could see on offer in Budapest, I would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room - we think they have more space.

Every room has a view of the river and the lights of the city @ night. Staff persons were helpful and pleasant. Rooms are comfortable. Breakfast is very nice. I feel this hotel is a very good value. Would stay here again.

Room Tip: Higher floors are quieter and give a better overall view. Corner room facing the Parliament building...

Small hotel right on Danube overlooking parliament and chain bridge. Could just sit in the room and just look out day and night. Staff very helpful with recommendations for dinner which were great. Couldn't have chosen better. Great location to walk to everything.
