“Hotel Victoria, Budapest”

Great location, friendly staff, amazing view and a very comfortable room. What more do you need? I totally enjoyed my stay at this little and charming hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone. Breakfast was very satisfying with delicious fresh melon on the week end. They offer to cook you eggs each morning upon arriving to breakfast or you can just cruise the ample buffet. Although most of the city is across the river (except "the hill" which is very convenient), it is a short walk and the metro and tram system is easily negotiated.
Best part? Letti, at reception. Warm, kind, knowledgeable and funny.
Alice

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the river.

The Victoria is a small hotel right on the Danube on the Buda side of Budapest. It had a small lobby and small restaurant. The rooms, however, were very large. Our room had the most magnificant view of the river and Parliament Building. The amenities in the room were very modern including the flat screen TV. The rate for the hotel was reasonable. You could walk over the chain bridge to the Pest side with its many sights and restaurants. You could also walk to the venicular which took you up the mountain to the cathedral and Royal Palace and many shops. The breakfast at the hotel included lots of pastries, meat, cheeses and fruits. You could also get eggs cooked just about any style, including omelettes.
A wonderful place which I would recommend highly to anyone.

My third stay here over the last 15 years. I will never tire of this place. It has been carefully designed to make the most of its space; therefore, the bathroom and bedroom areas seem larger than they are. And everything seems quite modern. But it is the full window view (from all rooms) of the Danube, the Chain Bridge, and the Parliament building that makes this hotel so wonderful. The breakfast is delicious. Good restaurants are nearby. A brief walk to the funicular to the Castle District, to Batthyany Ter (public transit), and even across the bridge to the Intercontinental Hotel where we started our Hop On and Hop Off bus tours. I will always choose this wonderful, small hotel when I go to Budapest.

Room Tip: Three rooms on each level, each facing the Danube. Not sure there is a bad choice with any of them.

We travelled 9 hours and finally got to Budapest. The staff met us at the taxi and treated us like their favourite guests, even though we've never been to Budapest before. The room was clean, spacious, air conditioned (thank heavens....it was very hot out!). Most amazing, even though we were so tired, was looking out the 2nd storey window at the view across the Danube to the Parliament Buildings! The bed was very comfortable, room quiet and after a good sleep we enjoyed the variety of the breakfast display.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the Danube have the great views. Check it out the next time you are in Budapest.

Excellent hotel with a good location and wonderful staff, great breakfast with a good selection of foods, all served in a nice breakfast room. The rooms are clean and spacious with air conditioning, but most of all the views across the Danube which are spectacular, especially on an evening when all the city lights are illuminating the buildings of pest. We where on the fourth floor and city traffic noise was of very little concern when sleeping, if you are a light sleeper you may need ear plugs.

Room Tip: Would advise high room if you wish to lessen traffic noise.

We arrived for a 4 night stay late on a Sunday evening after a long day of travel. As my friend had booked it, I hadn't really looked at the hotel beforehand. I honestly was not impressed by the outside of the hotel or the small lobby. How wrong my first impressions were! The twin room we had on the 4th floor was immaculate, modern and clean. The bathroom was of a good size and presented in a modern style. The beds were firm and the sheets soft. We had an excellent view across the Danube to the Budapest Parliament buildings which was even better at night. Whilst there was a busy road and tram line outside, we didn't get any noise at night due to the double glazing and there was a good air-conditioner in the room. Breakfast was pretty good as well with a good selection of continental-style choices as well as eggs and omelettes which could be prepared for you. The hotel is also in an excellent location on the Buda side of the city, close to the main stops for the bus and river tours, the metro, several fine restaurants such as Carni di Hall and a short walk up the hill to Budapest Castle and the surrounding area. A fine 4-star hotel and good value for money. Again, don't be put off by first impressions here - it's worth it.

We've just had a four day city break here at this wonderful hotel. We were fortunate enough to be on the eighth floor, the massive window giving breathtaking views over Pest and the Danube. The room was clean, modern, nicely furnished and cleaned daily. Given that the hotel is in a city, the traffic noise was negligible and hardly noticeable. The breakfasts were also more than adequate, with a variety of breads, cereals, cold meats, fruit, yogurts and freshly cooked eggs/ham/cheese of your choice. Nothing was too much trouble for the lady overseeing everything. Yes, the reception is small as is the lift, but, it is a 'boutique' hotel and these things just add to the character. If people want things on a 'grand' scale perhaps the Hilton would appeal.
The reception staff are multi-lingual and very helpful, they assisted with restaurant recommendations and transport tips. The location, apart from the views, was also quite well placed for getting about, 300 metres away is Clark Adams Sq. with a stop for the hop on hop off bus tours, as well as the no.16 bus which goes both up to Castle district and across the Chain bridge to Deak Ferenc Sq in the centre of Pest. Taxis are also cheap and plentiful. The Hotel also has an old part that is only open 16:00 - 17:00 for free afternoon tea, guests can get an idea of how the place looked before it was a hotel when a famous hungarian musician Jeno Hubay lived there. There is a belgian brasserie right next door to the hotel as well as number of other restaurants within a couple of hundred metres, all serving good food. I can't recommend this place highly enough,

Room Tip: If you have any requirements, just ask, we asked in advance for a room with a shower rather than a b...
