“Great hotel, great location”
Reviewed 21 July 2014 via mobile

Stayed only two nights here. Very good hotel, nice room, comfortable bed, efficient service from staff. I do not know Budapest very well as I just went there for business but the hotel appear to be well located close to the castle, parliament, etc. very nice restaurant options around. In general, a very good experience and I would return.

I really couldn't fault this place. From our check in and welcome until our check out 5 days later everything was perfect. Great location and great staff all made for a wonderful hotel experience. Special mention for Attila in the Blue Fox for creating some fantastic cocktails to Tomas on room service ,a very professional and pleasant young man. Not to forget the experts on the concierge desk ,Andras and his colleagues. As for restaurants, go with Evidens. Well priced and great food served by happy and efficient staff.

Enjoy.

Have just spent a great 4 nights at the Kempinski Budapest , great choices for breakfast , the staff at the hotel were very professional and polite esp in the blue fox bar where I was looked after by Norbert who served my Jack Daniels and coke in perfect style.
I will be returning again ,I have stayed in many five star hotels in many cities and I reckon this is up there with the best.

We had a family city break in this georgous hotel. We loved it and thought everything about the hotel is swell!!The staff are lovely and friendly but professional and very slick!!The rooms are super and we ate in all the restaurants and sipped cocktails in the bars. The location is perfect, only 10 minutes to the river. Breakfast was super, and they came around with pastries and special juices their eggs benedict are yummy!. Try the spaghetti ice-cream - it will make you laugh the only let down was the Nobo restaurant which was a completely underwhelming experience in every way - but this is not part of the Kempinski chain. iThis hotel is a serious contender for our favourite hotel - the Grand Sofitel in Sopot, Northern Poland. Would we return to the Budapest Kempinski - yessirree!!

Although the lobby was amazing, people were nice, and it did have free internet, this is not a 5 star hotel by western standards. The separate shower had mold in the corners, our windows looked out to a derelict building with graffiti, and there is a strange clear glass door encompassing the toilet area. Later in the evening, the area surrounding the hotel also had visibly unsavory characters. For me, the most disappointing was the inability of the air conditioning to remove any of the oppressive humidity, and it did not get the room heat abated below 75F. I asked for someone to look at it, but no one did. We stayed for 2 days. Beware that if you put the little tree thing on the bed, meaning "use my existing sheets to make the bed" it also means don't replace any towels (or the washcloths you have on your face because it is too hot to sleep!).

The people in the lobby were nice, for the most part. Very confusing included breakfast which was quite good, but be prepared to be a little pushy in seeking service, as the servers stand around talking a lot.

This stay was included with a tour I took, and when checking out, they tried to charge me for internet (*stated as included by my tour company*). I would not have stayed here during the heat (almost 90F here during the 2 days stay) except that the tour had us locked in.

The posted rates converted to about $250/night. I would not pay that rate. If you get a great deal, and aren't heat sensitive, might be ok.

Room Tip: Ask for a park view and ask to check the air conditioning to be sure it works before you commit.

I've checked-in and I received a bad news ( good news for non-smokers ): the hotel is smoke-free...apparently for 150E fee, you can still keep your bad habbits.
It might be a great rull as long as the visitors are informed before booking/checking-in.

Dear valued Guest,

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback with us on tripadvisor. Guest comments are of high importance for us and we strive to constantly improve our services. One of the returning requests was to extend the range of our non-smoking rooms. When breaching the non-smoking rule, a reconditioning fee will apply to ensure a perfectly smoke-free environment is maintained for the next guest. We regret that we were not able to provide you with this information before your arrival, since the conversion of smoking rooms into non-smoking is just in progress.

Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience caused by late information and we would like to welcome you back in the future for many more visits.

Ideal location near the Danube and many major attractions in Budapest. My wife is Hungarian and we stayed here for her sister's wedding. Great location; very central. Great service. Great choice in Budapest. Breakfast was great. The bed was very comfortable. Spa was very enjoyable.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the Big Wheel.
