Overall a pathetic stay for someone on a business trip. Furniture 30 years ols maybe, the window did not lock, I had to change the room. One insect in the shower tub. Cleanness was poor, I was a bity reluctant to put my head on the "pale white" pillow.
Service was nice and prompt, however. Breakfast bad, only the omlete and the yogurt could be eaten.
I guess it's good for low cost students trips, you could bring an night sack though.

Arrived at 11am on a Friday morning, our room was ready even though check in was not until later on, which was great.

Hotel is in a good location around 15 minutes walk to Vaci street and the river, so ideal for getting around.

We had room 507 which was at the top of the hotel, be aware rooms on this floor dont have direct lift access - the lift goes to floor 4 and then there is a flight of stairs to the fifth.

Our room was clean but a little dated, but pretty much what I expected given the price we paid. There was no tea or coffee available in the room which I was disappointed about, but the room did have a fridge which was great for storing beer and other drinks in!

The safe in our room was great, free to use and locked using a code 4 digit code you select yourself, so all our valuables were very safe.

Breakfast was a typical European affair, not to my taste but plenty of choice available.

Please be aware that this hotel is shown as a 3* on some websites, I'd say in England it would probably be a 2* - basic accomodation, clean environment with no fuss. Excellent for a few days away.

I would not stay here again simply because I think there are better hotels in Budapest - admitedley at a higher cost, but I would have no problems going back If I was forced. Thats the only reason I would not recommend only this hotel to a friend.

Clean, fairly basic hotel but really cheap and not too far from anywhere in the city centre. I stayed here in Jan 2009 with a female friend (both in twenties) and wanted somewhere clean that we could put our heads down at night, but that wasn't far from anywhere.

The hotel itself is hidden down residential backstreets but there are cafes and bars dotted around everywhere and it's a 2 minute walk to the main road, and a 5min max walk to the underground. Roughly 10 minutes to walk to the river and Chain Bridge. We didn't feel secluded or too far from anything. The rooms are fairly large - we had 3 beds in our room, with satellite tv, a minibar, free electric safe, and a little shower ensuite. The room was really well heated and we never felt cold.

Breakfast wasn't anything special. There are 2 breakfast rooms for kosher and non-kosher, and I ate in the non-kosher room. It served a mixture or cold meats, random hot items, yogurts and bread/pastries. Nothing greatly appetising but it was good to have some toast and a cup of coffee before heading out.

The other guests seemed to be young twenty-thirty somethings. Some Brits, Americans, Germans. I guess we were all after the cheap hostel type prices but with a bit more comfort. That's how I would rate the hotel. I've given it 4* but that's for its convenience and because it was exactly what we needed it for, and not because I felt it was 4* standard!

The hotel reception has loads of leaflets and information on things to do and see in Budapest and the staff were all really helpful (and good at speaking English!)

Very nice hotel, right in the center of the city within walking distance to Vaci street, St.Stephen Cathedral, Andrassy street, Parliament. The rooms are basic but nice with a electronic safe box inside 9so, if you have expensive earrings or somethinbg else - just put the into the safe box and you are not gonna experience any problems. The staff is very polite, the breakfast is good.

The hotel were very helpful prior to arrival as I emailed them to request a double bed (opposed to 2 single beds shoved together) and when I arrived this is exactly what i got. They also arranged for a taxi. They were at the arrivals gate with my name on a sign but i found out in the end they were actually slightly more expensive them just hailing a taxi upon arrival. However they did deal with any problems regarding the taxi.

The check in process was easy but the hotel is down a back street some distance from anywhere. There is a restaurant next to the hotel but it was never open. A little further up the road was a lovely bar that had a great busy atmosphere.

The room was clean and large with a good safe a very clean decent bathroom. There was also a little mini fridge which was very handy.

Breakfast was very very busy at peak times and you couldn’t move around the tables or even get a table most mornings. The food seemed ok with cakes, bread, yoghurts, fruit and cereal. Coffee and tea was also served but after trying to eat there on the first morning we didn’t go back.

As i said earlier it was a little far from places but Budapest is so beautiful you don’t mind walking (remember comfy shoes!!) It was closest to the Synagogue which also had the hop on hop off bus going from it. I would recommend this if you would like to see both parts of the city as Buda is far and sparse.

Bars in the area are lovely and you aren’t a million miles from the Church where there are some nice bars and restaurants.

I would recommend this hotel to friends but would consider looking around more. In regards to price i would say it is reasonable.

  • Liked — Clean room and hotel, helpful staff
  • Disliked — distance, lack of good bars nearby

Perfectly decent , centrally located hotel.
Rooms clean, with modern fittings, air con and good beds.
Hot water a bit thin on the ground in the mornings
No noisier than any city centre hotel. We were on the fifth floor and had no problem.
The area is absolutely safe into the early hours of the morning, and the bar directly opposite is fun with friendly staff.
Breakfast basic but hot and plenty of it.....scrambled eggs, tomatoes, cheese, meats, yoghurt, pastries. Limited cereal and only one toaster, but plenty of hot coffee. Juice is watery cordial.
Staff very helpful.
Use the Airport shuttle if only two of you......buy a return ticket at the desk in Arrivals and hotel will phone to book return time 24 hours before you leave. Shuttle bus clean, staff efficient and arrived for return pick up promptly.
If there are four of you then a shared Zona taxi may be cheaper.....also book in Arrivals next to the shuttle desk.

Having read a review on Trip advisior AFTER booking the Kings Hotel I was concerned to say the least about a customer having her personal items stolen in the room. At this stage it was toon late to change the booking, I checked in and was given a room number, When I entered I first checked the window which opens out on to a common balconey over the courtyard, Basically any person can access this balconey from a door off the hall way, The window lock was not fully locked and when I did lock it the lower catch was broken, I rang reception to ask for new room which I got on the next floor with more or less the same window problem overlooking the courtyard, I asked for another room and this time over looking the street which I got. It has a balconey but I'd figure spider man would be the only person able to get to it. Even though the door out to the blalconey could not be locked it was safe enough for a 2 night stay and there was a room safe, Oh and one other thing, The door into the room was not very secure anybody could have pushed it In with enough force. The street outside is noisey from traffic, I didn't eat or drink at the hotel so I cant comment on that but the area seemed Ok, 5-10 min walk to light rail transport etc, The recommended resturant by the hotel is not good so aviod

  • Liked — Seats were comfy in reception
  • Disliked — lack of security within room
