A very beautiful hotel in an amazingly perfect location!

The rooms are wonderful...great beds and decor. The shower-heads have great pressure and housekeeping is really on top of things.

The hotel is in the heart of everything, right on the Danube...just a two minute walk from the Chain Bridge. Anything and everything you could want is within walking distance.

The staff are friendly and willing to help...anything I want, I get. The only problem I had was poor attitudes from the staff in the on-site salon downstairs.

One thing that is a bit outrageous is the charge of $25USD per day for the internet and it is NOT wireless. Thankfully, my company covers that cost.

I normally don't stay at chain hotels, but due to a very late arrival time went with the InterContinental. Above all, this hotel has perhaps the best location of any hotel in the city except maybe for the Four Seasons. It's situated right on the river on the Pest side, adjacent to the Chain Bridge, and only about a two-block walk from the Vaci Utca shopping district. A scenic walk over the Chain Bridge lands you in Buda, where a funicular whisks you up to the castle and old town district. The hotel itself is nothing special, rooms are clean and updated, the views are spectacular on the river side of the hotel. But if you don't have a view room, grab a drink down in the lobby bar after dark.

Excellent hotel in every way. We stayed 4 days on the exeuctive club floor with a direct view to the Castle Hill. Aim for this floor b/c they have great service and amenities including all day snacks, coffee/teas, free internet and wireless and fantastic view to the castle hill area. Our room was excellent - fairly good size with another fantastic view to the Buda Castle. Great service, great restaurant, great concierge, great location - walking distance to main shopping street - Vaci street. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. It may not be as new or as modern as the Greshem Palace, the Kempinski and the St.Regis but you cannot get a better location and view for the price!

Stayed at the Intercontinental Budapest for 3 nights on business. Hotel is not very nice to look at, and laid out in a slightly odd way I thought. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful at all times, which made for a pleasant stay. Bathrooms are tiny and functional rather than luxurious, and the rooms themselves were ok, again without really going the extra yards to be lovely.
Good location, excellent views, slight issue with running the gauntlet of prostitutes outside the hotel at night, but not bad enough to spoil a lovely City and good hotel.

Don't bring your cat because the bathroom is not big enough to swing it in.
The bathroom was tiny but adequately furnished. On the positve side it had one of the strongest power showers I have experienced in any hotel. We upgraded to an upper room with a great view of the river and castle. The room was nicely appointed, comfortable bed, art deco touches, flat screen t.v.
The hotel exterior is pretty ugly but the interior is warm and welcoming with a buzzy lobby and bar area. We didn't eat in the hotel only to have the buffet breakfast which was fine with all the normal suspects. Service was good and the staff were pleasant and efficient. One rankle. You had to phone reception if you wanted an evening turn down! We asked for this and it was a half hearted service. Fresh towels but no tidy up.
I wouldnt say this was the best Intercontinental I have stayed in. The Hong Kong Intercontinental is miles better.
Overall a pleasant enough hotel for a couple of days stay. The location is brilliant. For the best food in budapest eat at The Four Seasons just up the road. We wished we had stayed there.

For our early-autumn trip to the delightful city of Budapest, we pushed the boat out a little by going more up-market than usual. We stayed at the Intercontinental, which was more expensive than our normal choice of hotel, but utterly memorable.
It has a brilliant look-out across both the Danube and the old town of Buda - an ideal starting point for tours by foot or various modes of transport. The staff and food (we were bed and breakfast) were very nice and there was precious little we could find fault with. Unusually, we didn't use the pool but the amenities were well up to standard for a city centre hotel.
We would, however, sound one word of warning. As we climbed into our taxi on our departure, a senior member of staff, having asked us which airline we were flying with and to which airport, told the driver which terminal we required and he dropped us off accordingly half an hour or so later. It was only when we were inside the building that we were told we were at the wrong terminal. In England, this might necessitate a walk of a few hundred yards to put things right. In Budapest, it meant a journey of another three miles or so - one we made on a public bus with our suitcases and other bags.
Although we accept some responsibility for not having double-checked which terminal we required, we felt a little let-down by the hotel employee and the taxi driver for not knowing, between them, where we should have been dropped off. Fortunately, we had time to spare but others, in the same position, might not be so lucky.
