Owner description: Lovingly restored after being reduced to rubble during World War II, this picturesque area is located in the heart of medieval Budapest, which is characterized by cobblestone streets, narrow alleys and lovely squares surrounded by baroque and classical buildings.

I suggest you walk all the way up to the castle hill where you can first come across with the outstanding Liberty Statue and walk through the streets to the Buda Castle. This historical castle and palace complex carries more than 800 years of history starting from the Middle Ages to the Nazis occupation, and although parts were destroyed throughout the centuries, it's still there...! Worth visiting!!

The hill is full of various cultural and unique attractions. It needs at least two days for visiting most of them.

The castle of the Hapsburgs on Castle Hill is magnificent on the outside though the inside is today bereft of any significant examples of how royalty lived.

Amazing view of the city and the walk is not too difficult. There are several fountains where you can refill your water bottles, including one with mineral water, so make sure you save your bottle!

We visited here late in the day, and it was the perfect time. This attraction is always busy, but less so in the evening. We were able to enjoy the amazing views, and to just wander the streets. It is quite a steep climb up, and the tourist buses do come up here. But climbing up, and just discovering was wonderful. We visited the next day by bus and it just wasn't the same.
