Owner description: Built during the 19th century for the Hungarian Millennium celebrations, this mock bastion features pointed towers and turrets, reminiscent of the fairytale castles in Disney World.

The architecture is beautiful it's and a lovely place to spend some time taking photos and enjoying the views. Stop for a glass of wine at the cafe and listen to some live music. I'm ready to go again!

Vist this Gothic terrace on the Castle Hill on the Buda side of Budapest. What a spectacular view of the surroundings, the Danube River, Pest, the magnificient city and the rolling hills where you can see some more Renassance parliment buildings. There are local entertainers musicians putting on shows for the visitors. The Fisherman's bastion has seven towers, walk up into one of the towers and absorb the spectular view.

Looks fantastic from outside and from below but once you ascend onto the ramparts fantastic the views over the Danube and from Pest towards Buda Unser past. Like walking through a medieval Castle. There are turn styles to pay to go onto the bastion but they were not working when I went and looked as though they have not worked for a while although it would not have been expensive and well worth the cost. When I went they were doing road works to the road leading to the Bastion so walking had to be done uphill but once the work is complete you will be able to get public transport directly to the Bastion then a 50 yard walk. GO IF YOU ARE IN BUDAPEST.

We dinned in the gallery area off this restaurant with magnificent views over the City. The food was fab, the tastes divine and the staff and the musicians were very friendly.

The bastion forms the Danube-looking part of Buda Castle. Despite the name that honors the fishermen guild that manned that part of the city defenses, this is a mock XIXth. century remake. Anyway, the view of the park on the downward slopes, the Danube and the Parliament at the Pest side is quite stunning and worth the visit by itself. As suits a born-again-capitalist country, access to the best part is paid.
