A beautiful hotel with a great location, this was one of the highlights of our summer travels. We booked a room on the 5th floor facing the Danube, and the extra expense was well worth it. Our room looked directly across the Chain Bridge, and the view at night was wonderful with boat traffic on the river, lighted castles on the Buda side and great people watching. The room itself was spacious, very clean, well appointed and had a nice shower. It also included a small but usable balcony, which allowed us to stand in the warm night air to enjoy the view. Double sets of glass doors assured a quiet room when we were ready. Around the corner is St. Stephen's Basilica, an architectural treasure, where we happened to catch a choral concert, and a number of outdoor restaurants. Just across the river and up the funicular is the old quarter of Buda, a warren of coffee and pastry shops and other treats, also home to the beautiful romanesque church overlooking the river from Buda with a view of parliament. We walked to all of this from the hotel. Staff at the hotel was excellent. We didn't eat at the hotel. With breakfast at 35 Euros per person, we decided to explore the many nearby plazas and streets for other options, which were easy to find in this wonderful city. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Budapest!

Room Tip: Get a room with a river view - it makes a stay here even more enjoyable.

It is great to read you fantastic, detailed feedback regarding your recent stay at our Hotel in July. Your description as to what one can expect when visiting Budapest and Four Seasons Gresham Palace is highly appreciated, the same as you positive notes about our staff. I am delighted you also managed to discover so much of what our beautiful city has to offer. I am sure quite many travelers who did not have the chance to visit Budapest yet will find your review a valuable source of information.

Thank you for bringing up to our attention the prices of our breakfasts (24 EUR for continental and 31 EUR for American breakfast), which we have taken good note.

Sincerely,

Yves Giacometti
General Manager

Quite simply the best hotel I have ever stayed at in Europe. Gorgeous building, tasteful decoration and the best location right in front of the Chain Bridge and the Danube. The concierge is extremely helpful and the service throughout is top notch and friendly.

Walking through the crisp art deco corridors and on the stairs upstairs, it feels as if one is transported to one of the atmospheric sets of the Hercule Poirot series with David Suchet.

Europe is full of faded ‘grandes dames’ with surly service and chipped furniture. This is quite the opposite.

Certainly one of the best luxury hotels in Europe. I have stayed in many luxury hotels in Europe and the Gresham Palace is about the best .

By comparision luxury hotels in western Europe usually offer fairly mediocre (and sometimes poor) service at higher price.

The hotel is centrally located facing the Chain Bridge. We were made to feel very special by the attentive staff. THe room was very nice, the restaurant outstanding and the gym and spa emaculate and large. It was a wonderful way to finish a long trip through eastern and central Europe.

Room Tip: Rooms with a view of the Chain Bridge are expensive, but the views are extraordinary.

It was excellent experience staying in Four Seasons in Budapest!! I totally satisfied with the hotel services. Reception desk, consierge service, housekeeping services, all the services was kind. Furthermore, I and my family really enjoyed the Four Sasons restaurant. The foods were a bit expensive compared to other restaurants, but the quality of the foods were good.

The building is gorgeous. Every detail is looked after in this antique architectural wonder in the secessionist style. Our room was ready as 9am , as we disembarked from a Viking ship that had sailed down the Danube. We literally walked our bags across the street from the ship to the hotel. I booked with Platinum American Express and received an upgrade to the Danube river view with a balcony looking at Buda( magnificent and absoulutely necessary for the best experience). The Amex package also included breakfast and a free three course dinner. I recommend booking this way as the breakfast described as continental was everything you could want and otherwise is about $35.00 per person. The Gresham restaurant was first class....maybe the best of all the restaurants we ate in. The staff, especially the two Peters and one Dan at the concierge desk were well informed, friendly and very helpful. The service in the dining room was perfect. The room was a delight with a huge bathroom with tub and separate shower and double sinks..Everthing was polished to perfection. There was no coffee in the room and they should probably have a table set up in the lobby from 7-9 am to accomodate their guests. They did provide coffee from the restaurant that you could take back to the room without charge. The spa looked great but I did not have enough time to pursue it. The location is very central to most of the tourist sites and one could walk almost everywhere. We used the guide (Judy) recommended by the concierge for a private tour of the Parliament. She was excellent and also allowed us to avoid a long line. I loved every minute I was there!

Room Tip: You need a river view! Compare Amex and a potential upgrade with internet prices.

It's difficult to put into words just how good this hotel is. We travel quite a lot around the world and can't remember staying somewhere that ticks all the boxes as well as this hotel does.

Some of the things that sets this hotel apart from other five star options, - romantic piano bar, great sleep quality, lap pool, better than normal gym, perfect location.

Only mild complaint, I wish all hotels would include tea making facilities in the rooms. This hotel has inroom coffee makers, but no kettle to boil water for tea.
