I walked up to the Four Seasons in a down jacket, jeans, and hiking boots, with only an ancient Hartmann weekend bag over my shoulder and was eager to see how I would be received, and to everyone's credit, I was received warmly and professionally by the doorman and by Richard at the front desk, who was extremely warm and kind. For the whole length of my stay, I found service standards to be courteous and absolutely faultless at reception, with the concierge, the spa, and in the restaurant for multiple meals.

I'm not sure why others have faulted the service here, unless they failed to consider the cultural context of Eastern Europe. Granted, the culture isn't bubbly and effusive by nature, but I felt welcomed, pampered, and appreciated like a member of the family. I stayed at the Cape Grace in Cape Town a couple of months back, and found the Four Seasons staff here to even surpass that lofty service standard.

I stayed in a Gresham Room with a view of Buda Castle and though the hotel is now 5 years old, the room looked like I was the first person to ever step foot it in. The quality was beyond reproach and the restored art nouveau palace is a true architectural wonder that merits your time to walk through and appreciate.

Most of all, I wouldn't want a more casual traveller to miss an incredible experience out of concern for aloofness or being treated with indifference. I was travelling without a blazer and was treated like a prince the entire stay.

I'd suggest Donatella's Kitchen to you, and if you have an extended time, a day trip to the village of Herend to see the world-famous porcelain manufactory and museum is awesome if you appreciate porcelain and china. The concierge sheet at the hotel tells you more.

I am virtually certain you won't find a finer city hotel experience anywhere in the world for the price of a room at the Gresham Palace and I encourage you to go and enjoy!

I have stayed at over 15 Four Seasons properties and was pleasantly surprised to find Gresham Palace the best city hotel Four Seasons I have ever stayed at. From the magic of the lobby to the incredible service at the front desk, everything was perfect. When I arrived, the front desk had my Thanksgiving dinner reservation confirmation, my opera tickets for Saturday night and then upsold me to a better room. The room was a bit small but the views is beautiful and the room was quiet.

The housekeeping and room service were prompt every time I used them. The location of the hotel is perfect between Buda and Pest. The concierge organized a private tour, which I would highly recommend to do on your first day.

the only area for improvement for this property is consistent with most of the others I have stayed at and that is the restaurant. The service was a bit slow and inattentive when the managers were not present. They are somewhat unfriendly and can be unprofessional. The food is ok and I agree with an earlier review that said the buffet was not worth the money. It is very small and too expensive but the food is ok.

Overall, this was the best city Four Seasons experience I have ever had. Be sure to try Onyx restaurant which is a short walk from the hotel.

This was our 2nd stay at the hotel in 3 years and it is one of the best we've ever stayed at. The service from the minute you walk through the front doors until you leave is exceptional.

We were a party of 25 and check in was very fast. The front desk was very efficient and there were no hassles. After 2 days, the front desk stopped me to ask if there were any special needs that we had remembering that we were hosting.

The concierge was very knowledgable and didn't make me feel uncomfortable about changing any reservations. Their suggestions were perfect - Cafe Kor (great family restaurant) and Cafe Pierrot (exceptional dinner even though pricey - but not for kids).

The rooms were very large sized. The Gresham rooms were a great size. Bathrooms had beautiful marble tops. All the amenities were high quality. If possible, ask for a room on the 5th floor - there is an amazing stained glass FLOOR - even if you don't stay on this floor, it is worth seeing.

The Spa was 1st rate, and the kids enjoyed the above ground, infinity-like pool.

The hotel is very well situated near all key locations - right at the Chain Bridge, so very walkable to the Castle Hill funicular and all the shopping by Vaci Street.

There was a nice Christmas market/fair ongoing from late Nov that had a lot of good locally produced artist items and foods.

We spent a day trip out at the Danube Bend in Visegrad and Szentendre. Highlights were the Corona Restaurant (Szentendre), tobaggan run (near Visegrad) and of course the towns and castles.

This hotel is amazing. It is a beautiful historic building, with gorgeous rooms and bathrooms and everything you would expect from a Four Seasons hotel. Location is great, service impecable and the leisure facilities were lovely. Although the pool is small, it is adequate and the gym is well equiped. The only negative point was the sauna did not work throughout the 5 days we spent here. The best restauarnt in the city turned out to be the one in the hotel. Try the degustation menu. Expensive but worth every penny. We were very disappointed with Hungarian food overall so this meal was just perfect. We loved our stay and would definitely return.

this used to be my favorite four seasons which has only recently been over taken by the one in florence....but the four seasons budapest is seriously jaw droppingly beautiful. i was completely smitten as i got out of the car and see this wonderfully beautiful beautiful building right before the chain bridge. and the lobby is as impressive, so is the cafe, the room and the spa. what i like about the room was that it's not stereoptypically standard four seasons and has a character of its own. i arrived at the four seasons budapest right after the four seasons prague which was quite forgettable to be honest. the staff was excellent as well and it truly made my stay in budapest a memorable one.

Four Seasons Budapest is pretty much exactly what you would expect. It is the best hotel in the city, in the best location. The rooms are great, the service is first class, and the views of the bridge are stunning.

Now, if your expectations are realistic, you know that it is not going to be quite the same as Four Seasons in Paris or Tokyo. And yes, it costs twice as much as Sofitel next door. If value is important to you, you shouldn't stay at Four Seasons Budapest. Then again, if value is important to you, you shouldn't stay at any Four Seasons anywhere. :-)
