“Get a meal here”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2012

There are a TON of restaurants to choose from so head down and pick one. The park like setting is beautiful, the food at the two places we tried was excellent (Cafe Manza and Cafe Vian) and it's close to Hero's Square and the Opera house. If you're taking metro, get off on the Octagon stop and walk a half block back towards the city center. Couldn't be easier.

“A Craft Fair in the Courtyard.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 May 2012

I attended a craft fair in the Gozsdu Udvar, in honour of Israel Independence Day. There were mainly native Hungarians, and also members of the Hungarian population of what is now Romanian Transylvania, expelled after WWII to Hungary. I bought wonderful linen tablecloths with handmade cotton lace decoration for under US$150. The same thing in Lefkara, Cyprus is over 4 times the price (I know - I bought there as well, in Feb.!).
There is a restaurant there, 'Yiddeshe Mama Mia', where I ate on the Friday night. Not worth the price and not that good.

“Great Place To Stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 March 2012

I flew my family to Budapest for graduation presents. We all met and stayed in the Gozsdu hotel, within this courtyard.
There is always something going on in the afternoons and early evening, and then the sidewalks roll up, and it is peaceful and serene. You can't find a nicer place to relax. Out place has a laundry, kitchen, etc. So the kids went out late, and mom and dad could relax with a bottle or two of fine red Hungarian wine.

Close to town center. Eight minutes by foot. Surrounded by quiet apartment buildings and local thoroughfares.
In the courtyard is a small local restaurant, with outside heaters, and warm blankets for the cool evenings. And everything on their menu is insanely delicious.
