If anything were to let this hotel down, it would be the location. Of course, this only applies if you're spending a short weekend visiting the city centre: the bus journey is 15 mins followed by the metro. However, as our meeting was very close by, Normafa was the obvious choice. The rooms were a little dated but they were clean. The entire hotel was somewhat overheated (which I understand is standard in Eastern Europe) but at least we could open the windows. The room featured an en suite with bidet, and in-room safe and tea/coffee-making facilities (a rarity these days). The breakfast was a standard continental buffet with some interesting (and delicious) Hungarian sausages. The Normafa Grill restaurant, attached to the hotel, served great Hungarian food and intriguing lemonade cocktails - well worth a try if you visit. The staff members were friendly and helpful. My colleague was complaining that the swimming pool was closed October-April, but considering it was iced over I wasn't about to dive in. The only real gripe I had was the gate to the car park. It sounded like a donkey and a canary having a fight and desperately needed oiling. We had to put up with that noise all through the night.
Overall, it's a neat hotel and worth a look if you're staying for more than a city break or have a car. After all, the price is right!
