“Welcoming& Spiritual”

One of the few Ottoman heritage that could survive. Amazing view of Budapest. Inside the tomb you feel the spirituality quite strongly. Gül (means Rose)Baba used to plant roses in Buda Hills. Thats why people named him Gul Baba.

“Quiet”
Reviewed 3 August 2013 via mobile

The grounds around it are in poor shape, but this is an interesting sight if you're in the area. The tomb seems to be closed now, but a sign on the door asks visitors not to walk on the carpets with their shoes, so perhaps it is open on particular days. Peeking through the glass it is difficult to see much, but you can make out Gul Baba's resting place.

“Sadly poorly maintained”
Reviewed 17 July 2013

Sadly it's in a poor shape the rose gardens are now an overgrown mess, when we reached the area that the tomb is situated the man on duty sat and barely acknowledges and the door was looked. On one side of the garden there's the remains of a Turkish style water feature that languishes in an arid state of disrepair.

I wouldn't waste your energy finding the place or climbing the hill to get there, you're better off crossing the bridge and spending the extra time on Margaret Island.

“Interesting Place”
Reviewed 12 July 2013

Gul Baba's tomb is one of the few remnants of the Turkish rule in Budapest. It is slightly off the beaten track. If you are staying in Pest, take Tram No. 4/6 and get off immediately after crossing Margaret Bridge. Walk a few metres ahead and turn right. A rather steep climb will take you to Gul Baba's Tomb. There is a rose garden around and the views over the city are good.

“A few signposts”
Reviewed 7 April 2013

Just spent a week in Budapest and could spend many more but as the posts about Gul Baba's Tomb illustrate - a few more signposts would greatly help one.
