“Good business hotel - Hilton you know what to expect!”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

I stay here regularly for work. The hotel is located away from the main tourist area/drag, located in the 'West End' area of Budapest next to a large shopping center and cinema complex and right next to the main train station. I stay here because it is very convenient for my work, but for tourist stays it is a pleasant 20 minute walk from the main tourist areas - castle, chain bridge etc. Being away from the main tourist drag the Hilton Budapest City offers very reasonable room rates for a very good standard of accommodation and service.

Main things you need to know -
Rooms are standard Hilton fare - smart, functional generally larger than the usual and most importantly comfortable.
Check in and check out is always quick and hassle free.
Staff are always polite and professional - always with a smile and ready to answer questions or provide assistance whenever needed.
Food - breakfasts include the usual warm buffet, cold meats, breads pastries, fruit and yogurt etc. Always I've found to be a high standard, plentiful and served in an area that is large enough to accommodate a busy hotel without being a hassle.
Dinner menu is limited but of a good standard. The dinner menu is a little more expensive then the surrounding restaurants, but a reasonable option if you don't want to venture out on one of your nights stay.

So all in all a good hotel experience with no disappointments so far after 20+ stays. Would I stay here if on vacation? - for the room rate and standard of accommodation, I would. It is a bit away from the main attractions, but taxis are cheap, Budapest has a good under ground system and it is a pleasant 20 minute walk along the river from the main tourist areas.
If you want to know what to expect when travelling to a city you might not have been to before and want to play it safe with your hard earned money, it is a good, reasonably priced option. Its a bit like McDonalds abroad - you always know what you are going to get.

Room Tip: Always take the approved taxis from Budapest airport - they take credit cards. Plus you are sure yo...

This is a Hilton-but another subpar version. Although the lobby, staff and restaurant were quite good---the bedding was worn out in some places and the towels were gray and worn looking-real rough. I know this is a small thing, but you are paying Hilton prices.....Our room was clean--but it just has that little bit of gringy feel when things are a lower level. It's conveniently connected to a mall-but that's not where I want to be on vacation. This is a LONG hike from anything I wanted to see--or train ride. I wish I had spent the little extra and stayed in the castle district--this was too out in the boonies for me. (Right by the main train station) Kind of sketchy around the station--but overall felt very safe in Budapest.

Room Tip: Spend the extra and stay in the castle district or use a taxi to spare your feet!

It is located inside a shopping center and a short walk from the train station, but if you come to Budapest as tourists for a short weekend you should take a hotel in a better location. This one is good for conferences. It is relatively new, and rooms are really nice and modern. Some too small.

Just got back from a short city break of 4 days.Travelled as couple on b&b basis. Our room was on third floor and overlooked main street but double glazing blocked out most traffic sounds. The room was clean, spacious and a kettle with tea, coffee provided.(last hotel we stayed in in Budapest did not and that was a 5* too,I wish there was consistency across the board)!
There was a complimentary small bottle of wine, macaroons and a bottle of water. We drank the water and the second day another was left out but as I noticed later,it had a price tag of 1200HUF on! The Spar in the West end shopping centre sells water for about 65HUF so it's a no brainer really! There is a space allocatedin the minibar fridge for guests personal use,all other items have sensors! Beware!! It was quite scary opening the door in case one of the "sensored" items fell out and I would be charged a million forint!
Bathroom had bath and separate shower cubicle. The cubicle door does not prevent water from coming out onto floor and as there have been previous comments regarding this it should be seen to where this is happening. We had requested twin beds but got a king size and it was not very comfortable and not good for our not so young joints!
Unusually for a 5* the bedding is not changed daily unless you request especially. This wasn't really an issue as our stay was short but bizarrely it was changed the day before we left! Towels ,the same. I used a bathrobe and hand towel for the duration but one day we came back and the bath towels(my husband had had to use the second as the first was still damp from the previous day)hadn't been changed(still damp) so we had to use the second robe which like the bedlinen issue proved not very economical. The room and bathroom were clean but I felt that after the first day it was more of a "lick and a promise" for the bathroom.
The air conditioning was preset to a standard temperature(cool)and we could only switch it on or off.
Breakfasts were lovely and very tranquil. Not too many people all at once which is a definite plus! Plenty of choice and friendly polite staff.
The rear entrance leads straight into the West end shopping centre! Loads of eateries and a shoppers paradise! If you wish to go further afield the hotel will ring for a taxi or there are some outside the front entrance. They are very happy to do this.
A visit to Szechenyi baths is a must! Someone said you had to ask the hotel to book for you but they told us there was no need. We caught a taxi and got there after 9am. Perfect! It wasn't too busy then and the driver came back for us at an agreed time.
We enjoyed our time here and plan to visit this lovely city yet again(four days is not enough). We found the staff on reception very helpful and friendly. Would I recommend this hotel, yes!

The Hilton West End is a very nice hotel. I normally associate the Hilton with a high price end but we got a good discount on the net so it wasn't too bad.

The rooms are very clean and spacious. The gym is ok. The hotel is centrally located so it's within walking distance of most attractions.

The Hilton Budapest City is in a very central location; being next to a major train station in a world city capital, you wonder if you made the right choice landing here. The neighbour may look desolated at night. But it's just a short impression: the hotel is conveniently located if you want to explore the Pest side of this beautiful city on foot. The attached shopping mall is a plus too. But the hotel in general has all the amenities you would expect from a Hilton: restaurants, executive lounge, gym all functioning very well! and the staff is definitively making it perfect

The location is very good thanks to transport links, even though it is NOT in historical center. it is very close to a metro station and right next to a big shopping mall. Next to a busy street but my room was very quiet as it was facing the other side.
Breakfast is very good and varied. Rooms are spacious and clean. Executive lounge is not too big but very well catered for - there are warm and cold snacks, desserts and cakes, hot and cold drinks and alcohol.
the only disadvantage for me - the hotel does not have a pool (it is a new building so it really is a shame) but ok, in Budapest you can visit so many historical baths and spas that it is not a big problem even if you love water.
as far as I can remember - wifi is free in public areas and for hhonors diamond and golds.
its greatest asset - wonderful staff and really high level of service. They will make you feel special. Great price-quality ratio.
