Owner description: Popular thermal baths existed in the same location during Turkish times, although the current building dates from the late 1800s.

Recommended by our Viking tour desk at the Marriott. We asked for a place that the locals use- not disappointed! An experience that everyone would enjoy. Easy to get to from the hotel- a short tram ride and walk across the Margaret bridge.

I was surprised to see the prices between
Széchenyi and Lukacs being very similar. Lukacs is much smaller but does have some interesting areas to explore and the main thermal pool is incredibly warm. The thermal pool area definitely has a sulphur smell to it so expect an eggy smell. Lockers seem secure (using the same wristbands as Széchenyi) and there are now A4 printed signs in English.

This was the first time we had visited a thermal baths, it was a great experience and even better because it was free! As we had purchased a Budapest card for travel, and discounts to museums, each Budapest card enables the holder to one free entry of these baths. The baths have 2 swimming pools and an another pool with bubbles which are forced up : also a current at one end in a clockwise direction around the pool. Free steam room, and entrance to the thermal pools is included hottest pool 40 centigrade, coolest 24 centigrade.

For a first timer, this bath was enjoyable and good. As a holder of the 72hr Budapest Card, we were entitled to a free entry to the bath. It has 3 main hot bath with temperatures ranging from 24'C to 40'C. There is also an open air pool with jacuzzi and a swirling pool (which was fun to swim in).

Expectations weren't really high in the first place since it was free anyway, but the experience was good. The smell of medicine for the hot baths take a bit of getting used to but was relaxing nevertheless. There are also a few saunas and swimming pools (caps required for the pools only).

The best part about the bath is the friendly local patrons! We met a 75 yr old Hungarian man who chatted with us happily for awhile. This place is not too touristy and you can see that there are frequent local patrons enjoying the warm bath and occasional foreign companionship!

We travelled end of season in November and used our Budapest card, and after a few times of getting lost on the trams we found it. the staff didnt speak much english but the young man on the desk told us what to do, we had our own towels but no flip flops but it wasnt a problem. we didnt need a swim cap eve though we took them. really lovely, though hard to navigate the outside pool was lovely and lights up at night1 we really enjoyed it id visit this one again no probelm, had no problems with anyone here.
