“Impressive architecture but overpriced”
Reviewed 4 May 2014 via mobile

We went on a Sunday evening. Architecture is impressive but it is expensive for what you get. There are a few thermal pools, steam room and pools as well as a sauna. I imagine you could make more a day of it on a hot sunny day as you could lie on the sun beds outside.

“Good experience, but not more than that”

Visiting Budapest you also ought to visit a Spa.
That was our view and so we did. The hall itself in this old building is nice and very beautiful. Getting to the spa was a bit more difficult. The lay out and the logic of the building is not particular easy and we spend some minutes wondering around.
We end up spending most time inside as outside remained a bit to cold for our taste. Remember: to go for a swim you there need a bad cap.
Clearly mostly older people there even though some younger people there as well.

“Fun and relaxing”
Reviewed 2 May 2014

We visited the Gellert bathhouse on our recent trip to Budapest and it was great. We tried pretty much every bath and wound up in the smaller outdoor pool which was very warm and relaxing. We also tried the sauna and then jumped into the barrel of ice-cold water which was pretty crazy in a fun way.

The whole place is a bit of a maze and so we weren't quite certain where we were going or if we had been there before, but we eventually figured it out. We didn't try the massage or other services, though I was very tempted. Just didn't have the time.

The locker rooms were long and narrow and the Hungarian women didn't seem shy, so prepare yourself for some nudity. They are separated by gender and everyone was wearing a suit / trunks in the common areas though, so not too much of a shock for us conservative Americans :)

I'd recommend bringing your own towel, sandals and water bottle. They rent them, but refundable deposits looked steep which could just be annoying.

“Incredible also for young people”
Reviewed 1 May 2014 via mobile

I went here last day with my friends : what a fantastic place! There are a lot of beautiful pools ( of 40° 36° 26° and so on) , not too much people and a relaxing atmosphere. It isn't expensive and it's quite near the centre of the city

Visited here on Friday. The boooking at entrance of treatments etc is a little confusing and badly organised. But beside that myself and best friend really enjoyed it. You MUST take some flip flops though as there are quite a lot of steps, slippery floors etc. If you want to swim in the main pool take a swim cap, or just the shower cap from your hotel is fine. We also took our robes and slippers from our hotel.
The massage I had was very firm, the approach is quite rustic compared to a spa in the uk. But still enjoyable.
It takes a while to figure your way around the various pools and it can be a little confusing but all part of the fun.
The day we went it was quite chilly and raining so outside wasnt really a option for us, but I can imagine on a warm day it would be amazing. Very relaxing going to all the different temperature pools. Its obviously all very old and tired but that just contributes to the whole experience and charm. Its what memories are made of, you certainly wont forget your visit!
